chapter forty-three: Disney Movie Marathon

Elise had moved out early, and it was time for Amelia to start putting her things back in their rightful place.

I helped her of course, not wanting to miss out on the dirty comments she'd give me or the part where I tackled her to the bed and tickled her.

However, when all was said and done, I couldn't help but feel a bit of loneliness when I went to bed the first night of her not being in my room next to me.

It was kind of a habit to cuddle her when she fell asleep so quickly because I knew it was something she didn't do but that didn't stop me.

Her head against my chest and just watching the rise and fall of her back when she breathed gave me peace.

But then I'd wake up the next morning feeling so hot and sweaty because her legs would be sprawled across my waist it would make my stomach churn.

After Amelia telling me the secret she kept, I told my mom because I felt she had the right to know.

That was a big slap in the face though because it was almost as if she knew about it way before I yet played it off like-

"Don't be ridiculous,"

"That's not possible,"

"Just leave it alone, Peter,"

So I did because I wanted to focus on spending time with the girl I wanted to be with instead of worrying about my mom's weird reaction.

This night though, was different because Amelia was gonna sneak into my room and have a Disney movie marathon with me.

We were going to wait until my mother was in bed for me to grab the snacks while she set up a blanket fort in front of the TV.

To say I was excited was an understatement.

It was the night before Thanksgiving and almost midnight when I snuck downstairs to grab the necessities:

- Popcorn
- M&M's
- Soda
- Ice cream anddd
- chips

I felt a huge smile form on my face when I crept across the kitchen floor to open the pantry.

That one light was on as I passed by the big office and saw mom on the phone.

Is she seeing someone and wants to keep it a secret?

Curious as to who it was, I tiptoed by the double doors and pressed my back against the wall so I wouldn't be seen.

Then I leaned my head forward slightly and heard the following.

"My son knows about her identity, Helena! She can't stay here anymore!" Mom hissed into the mic.

"I don't care that you need time, she's gonna put him in danger and you know I can't go through that again,"

So they were talking about us...

"Amelia Armstrong is no longer welcomed in my home after Thanksgiving break, so I'll be sending her back first thing next week Monday..." Mom said softly.

Her fingers massaged her temples as she closed her eyes and then nodded.

"I'll guess I'll just come up with something and say it was bad behavior, I don't know?"
