Meanwhile, the duel kept going on.
"With that trap, you stopped our attack--" Para began.
"Just as you did pledge. But with our scores--" Dox chimed in.
"Ahead of yours, we still have the edge!" Para finished.
Dox had 2000 lifepoints, Para had 1700, Yami had 1600, and Joey had 2000.
Tristan, Bakura Tea, and Jill watched tensely.
"We're just gettin' started!" Joey said smartly, before he pulled a card and looked at it.
Then he looked at his hand as he thought for a moment, 'Hm. So far the only monster I got on the field is my Axe Raider. I need to bolster our attack force.'
The Axe Raider stood several paces behind the Celtic Guardian, watching his back.
"Now, my Flame Swordsman will heat things up! I put it in attack mode." Joey announced, as he placed the card down in front of himself. Then the Flame Swordsman appeared on the field.
"Its power level is five, but I'll move only four spaces." Joey said, before the Flame Swordsman paced forward to join the Celtic Guardian.
"I'll also move Axe Raider forward four spaces to join him and consolidate our forces. I've already used up Kunai With Chain's trap effect, but it still works as a regular accessory card, raising Axe Raider's attack power by five hundred points!" Joey continued in explanation, as the Axe Raider's attack points increased from 1700 to 2200.
"Let's see you take that on, you twisted twins!" Joey ranted.
"It doesn't matter if your forces are one or many, for soon--" Para began.
"There won't be any! Labyrinth Tank, advance seven more spaces!" Dox finished, before the Labyrinth Tank raced through the maze passages with its seven levels.
"Labyrinth Tank wields futuristic weaponry, your Archaic Soldiers don't stand a chance! And soon they will be within striking range!" Dox explained.
"And somewhere in the labyrinth lurks another trap for your unwary warriors. Do you really think you stand a chance?" Para taunted.
"Don't you two ever stop yakkin'?" Joey rolled his eyes, before he turned to Yami.
"You're up, Yugi."
"Then I play Dark Magician, in attack mode!" Yami announced, as he placed the card down in front of himself, and the Dark Magician appeared on the field.
"I move him forward five spaces, to defend our other warriors." Yami explained, before the Dark Magician executed a leaping flip, and landed on his feet in the space in front of their other monsters.
"Cool! Nice move, Yugi! Now the gang's all here. They're a team, just like you and me, pal." Joey complimented his friend, proudly.
"Right, Joey. There's a strength in numbers. Together they stand a much better chance of conquering this murderous maze." Yami replied, in agreement.
Dox growled in anger."We shall see about that." Para scoffed, before he took out his card and smiled.
"Quit grinning and spit it out! What is it?" Joey asked, impatiently.
"It's a magic card. And that's cause for celebration, brother." Para answered, smugly.
"Right!" Dox nodded, before he and Para showed off their Karate moves again.
"Now, face the wall-warping power of Magical Labyrinth!" Para taunted, as he placed the card down in front of himself. Then the field began to shake. Yami was getting tense.
"What's going on?" Joey exclaimed.
"The maze! It's changing! And that changes the whole game!" Tea exclaimed, in disbelief.
All around Yami and Joey's monsters, the walls of the maze were popping up and down, which made the maze change shape."Oh, no! The maze is changing shape!" Yami exclaimed, in disbelief.
Yeah, but what's it all mean?" Joey asked, confusedly.
Just then, a wall popped up between Yami and Joey's monsters, and they were separated! The others gasped in shock.
"That's just great! Our guys are cut off from each other!" Joey exclaimed, in disbelief.
Para laughed as he thought to himself, 'That's the power of the Magical Labyrinth, to reshape the maze according to our will. That should rattle them!'
"Tag teams are only as strong as their weakest link." Dox taunted, before he turned to Joey.
"And the link that's about to break is you!"
"Oh no, our strategy's blown!" Joey exclaimed, before he picked up his card and examined it.
"Don't let them rattle you, Joey." Yami told Joey, reassuringly.
"Eh?" Joey questioned, before he looked over at Yami, who actually had a dauntless smile on his face.
"Right, Yug." Joey nodded, before he turned to the field.
"Huh, gotta keep calm." He said to himself, before he directed his monsters' movement on a touch that was a square grid.
"Axe Raider, Flame Swordsman, advance and regroup."
Then Joey's two monsters turned and walked away from the wall, around the corner.
"The closer our boys get to the maze exit, the closer we get to gettin' outta here!" Joey taunted.
Both the Paradox brothers snickered to themselves.
