A Dream Come True

Josh P.O.V

" yeah ma, everything's all ready for her tonight."

I centered the candle that sat on the dining room table. I walked back into the kitchen opening the oven to make sure the garlic bread wasn't burning. See tonight is me anf my lady's 3 year anniversary and I'm proposing tonight. I cooked up her favorite meal, chicken alfredo, steam broccoli and garlic bread.

" you better make sure everything is perfect. Josh I want grand babies I'm not getting any younger son."

I Snickered into the phone while my mom nagged at me she loved Amara like she was her own. She took her in when her mother passed away the week before I high School graduation. My mom felt so bad for AMara that she allowed her to stay with us the summer before our freshman year of college. I must say that was a hard year for us all.

" ok ma, I have to go Amara should be home any minute now. I'll call you in the morning, love you bye."

I hung up the phone before she began to protest. I love my mother but sometimes she can be a little over bearing. I shook my head and snickered at the thought. I set the table with the food and turned on soft slow music. I can't wait to make this marvelous woman my wife. I mentally kicked myself for not doing it sooner.

My photographer Paul always encouraged me to do my best in front of the camera. Modeling was a talent within itself. I loved it to say the least. I felt at peace in front of the camera as the lighting dances across my skin allowing me to glow. If it wasn't for my loving boyfriend Josh, I would not know the experience of being a supermodel. After my mom passed Josh pushed me everyday to follow my dreams but I was always so afraid to. My mother never approved of me modeling, she always said that a real woman goes out and work hard with a real career not lie half naked in front of a perverted man gawking over my body through a camera lens. If she knew what I was doing I bet she would be turning over in her grave as we speak.

" Amara listen we may have to stay overnight because honestly the shots that we previously took are not that good." He gave me a disappointed look.

" What ! are you serious tonight is my anniversary I can't stay here!" My voice echoed through the studio.

I was pissed. I've never been the one to miss an important day such as this. Josh is going to be devastated.

"Is this anniversary more important than getting the cover of Kings magazine? No! You will have plenty of anniversaries, now come on give me more! Bigger smiles! Fiercer attitudes! Sexier eyes!" He practically screamed at me in his foreign accent.

I did what I was told and continued to strike poses.

"God, Josh is going to kill me."

I checked the clock that hung in our dining room. It read 11:45. Where the hell is this girl she was supposed to be home over an hour ago. I grabbed my cell phone out of my back pocket and checked it for missed calls or texts. Nothing. I looked around the room and noticed that the candles were shrinking and the food no longer developed stem. I poured myself another class of wine while I continued to wait. This was my sixth glass and I can honestly say that I was a little more than tipsy but definitely less than drunk. I felt myself growing tired and my eyelids grew heavier by the second. A little nap couldn't hurt right?

It was 1:30 in the morning and I was beyond tired. I was glad Paul decided to wrap up or session after he got the perfect shots he yearned for. I walked to my car exhausted and mentally preparing my speech to Josh. I was going to have some serious making up to do. I was so glad that I only lived 15 minutes away from the studio. I saw flashing lights in my rear view mirror and I couldn't help but to curse myself.

"Damn it Amara this will be your third ticket."

I pulled over to the right side of the road preparing myself for the worst. Just when I thought I was in trouble the cops sped right past me with an ambulance and fire truck on its trail.

"Whoa where's the fire?" I said to myself.

I continued on to my home and when I pulled onto my block my heart almost skipped a beat. Everything that me and Josh worked for and dedicated our lives too were up in flames. I hopped out of my car and tries to run towards the house.

"Ms. Stay back its too dangerous!" A cop restrained me and lead me back towards the street.

"Let me go you bastard this is my house!" Then it hit me. Josh could possibly be in there.

"Omg Joshua! Let me go my boyfriend could be in there." I tried my best to fight off the officer but he held a secure grip on me.

The firemen finally got somewhat control of the fire and 4 of them rushed inside. My heart pounded inside of my chest as I waited anxiously to know if the only man I ever loved was in there or not. 5 minute went past and it felt like an eternity to me.

Two firemen came walking out with there heads hung low. I felt a little relief thinking that Josh couldn't have beenin there. But my world came crashing down on me when the other two came out carrying a black body bag. I blacked out. I fell to my knees and sobbed and as the officer tried to console me.

"He didn't even make it to the front door" I overheard one the officers say and I cried even harder.

One of the firemen held up a melted candle."I think I found the cause of the fire."
