The stillness of
Dark before dawn
The quiet of a raging river
Spilling down the rocks.
-
And the shadows
Twisting, shifting
Forming into creatures
Best forgotten.
-
The dark demons
The evil creatures
Shifting from shadow
Into reality.
-
And then
They run wild
Racing through the hills
Running through the trees
-
They are untamable
Unreachable
They go where they please
They do as they wish
-
And then,
The first rays of dawn
Rising over the distant mountains
And a single woman stands there.
-
A staff in one hand
The other glowing golden
She draws a symbol in the air
Golden fire etched there.
-
Light, pouring through the hills
Winter's gone
Now the spring
Blooming from the ground.
-
The creatures shift
They disappear
Melting back
From where they came
-
The last one,
A howling wolf
Disappears in the last moments
of Dark before dawn.
