I had been back and forth up outta my sleep because I just couldn't get comfortable and because nurses were constantly coming in to check in on Rashad. My phone rang and it was my mother and I also returned text to all of Rashad's family who had texted me. My mom was bringing Noel to see me as well.
I heard a small knock at the door.
"Come in" I called out
The nurse walked in with my mother trailing behind her.
"Just coming in to check his blood pressure and IV bags" The nurse said with a smile
I nodded and pointed my attention to my mom "Good morning mom" I took Noel out her carseat kissing on her cheeks"Hey fat mama. Grandma made you look so cuuuuute."
My mom hugged me pulling a chair up beside me "Hows Rashad? How are you?"
I sighed looking over at Rashad"He's improving but is still out of it. Doctor said we just have to be patient, he can come to today or even weeks from now."
"I asked how are you too" She said
"Mom I'm hurting. I'm trying to keep my spirits high but this is really knocking me down." I told her bouncing Noel on my lap
She sighed "God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers"
"Well I don't know how much stronger I can be at this point. With everything I've been through and seen and then the love of my life cheats on me, gets shot and is fighting for his life. One of his best friends in which I had known for years dies" I told her
"Don't count yourself out. Remember who you are. Me and your father didn't raise you to give up in deep situations. You fight." She said
I took all that in. I knew I was a fighter but shit like this really knocks a person off their feet. But little did she know, I was putting my foot down and setting fire to figure out what caused this. We talked for awhile before she left. I paced the room to keep Noel quiet as I talked on the phone.
"Dad I need some serious shit" I said into the phone
"What you need?"
"I need your ear to the streets on some stuff going on here. I need names, address, all that ASAP"
"Amour you know I do not want you still involved in-"
"Dad I don't need the speech ite? Imma big girl and now I have shit to handle. Can you do it or not? Cause If not I can find someone else"
He sighed "You know I got it. Ill get the info to you as soon as I get it"
"Thank you"
"Amour?"
"Yeah dad"
"Don't make me come there and show little niggas who's really a killa"
I chuckled "Bye dad"
"Bye princess"
I hung up the phone sitting back down next to Rashad. Noel would reach out for him and I would have to distract her.
"Daddy better wake up or I'll kill him myself" I told her smiling
She giggled looking at me with her little hands on my cheeks. We turned the TV on watched whatever kiddie cartoon they had on TV. I played on my phone talking to anyone that called. I paced the room. Now I was sitting down holding Noel.
"H, I, J, K , L, M, N, O, P" I sung lowly to her as she giggled
The door opened and Ty popped his head in.
"Hey Amour"
I gave him a small smile "Hey Ty"
"Any update?"
I shook my head "Same as yesterday, no response. No attempt to come out his slumber. How's Ant mom?"
"She's better than she was last night. A lot of family came to her this morning. His brothers taking it real hard. They're working on funeral arrangements"
He took Noel out my arms walking around with her.
"Any update on this?" I asked him
He shook his head "It wasn't the niggas from the other side of town, none of our enemies. We really dont know who pulled this. But we're gonna find out"
I nodded.
Rashad's mom came in, she hugged Ty and me. She took Noel outta Ty's arms. And then she took a seat on the other side of Rashad's bed.
"Amour have you went home yet?" She asked
I shook my head "I can't leave till he wakes up"
"Amour. Your gonna drive yourself crazy in this hospital waiting. You have to go get fresh air. If he wakes up I will call" She assured me
"Mama J I-"
She cut me off "Ty make sure she gets home safely"
I sighed in defeat as I got up putting Noel in her carseat and grabbing her diaper bag. I leaned over kissing Rashad and hugging his mom. Ty helped me out by carrying Noel's carseat to my car.
"If you need anything A, just call" He said as I closed the door to backseat
I nodded hugging him "I will Ty"
He walked off to his car and I climbed in my truck driving in silence. I didn't wanna hear the radio, I just wanted it to be quiet. As I pulled up into the condo, lugged Noel's carseat upstairs into the house. I got her out putting her in her little play pen.
My phone rang.
"Hello"
"A, I got some names and addresses. I'm sending them your way right now. Call me if you need anything else"
"Okay. Thanks dad"
"Be safe princess"
"I'm always safe dad"
I hung up the phone just as it vibrated. I opened the text stunned to see whos name was involved in all this.
