Since the baby shower me and Amour have kept running into each other. Out at the mall, at the gas station, just anywhere. Today was Noel doctors appointment so I was sitting in the lobby as Amour was running a little late.
Amour jogged inside speed walking up to the desk. I eyed her hair thrown up in a bun and the Nike track suit that hugged her every curve.
"Sorry we late" she said plopping down beside me "Somebody spilled they food on their clothes"
Noel was just speaking her baby gibberish, just as happy as ever.
"You good" I told her "Ain't doing nothing at the club anyway, Ty there"
She nodded "Okay"
"Noel Johnson" the nurse poked her head out the door
We all stood up and walked to the back. They put us in a pink room filled with kids shit. Amour took off Noel's pants and sat with her on the hospital bed.
"She gotta get shots?" I asked her
Amour nodded "Unfortunately, so she's gonna be cranky and shit all day"
A silence fell upon us. The nurse came in a weighed Noel and all that. She told us she'd be back with Noel's shots.
"So you know you gotta hold her right?" Amour asked
I raised my eyebrow "What?"
"I can't see her get shots. It's hurt my heart, and I start to cry with her. That one appointment you missed, I was in here crying just as much as Noel" She explained
I laughed at her.
"That's not funny, I'm serious" She straight faced me
"okay okay okay" I nodded "Ill hold her"
The nurse came back in with the needles. Amour handed Noel off to me and went and sat in the corner.
"Dada dada dada" Noel just repeatedly said bouncing in my lap
"Daddy's girl huh?" The nurse asked as she wiped Noel's legs off with alcohol pads
I nodded and smiled "Yeah she is"
She chuckled "Okay dad, you gotta hold her still. Imma do it fast but she's gonna cry and fight cause babies don't like pain" she turned and looked at Amour "And neither does mommies"
Amour laughed at the nurse throwing shade at her.
"Okay" i said trying to hold Noel still
The nurse was going in to give Noel shots, Amour was in the corner with her eyes squeezed shut. I laughed at her but my heart dropped as soon as Noel started to cry.
