"Rashad bring your ass, we are not gonna be late for Ant's funeral" I called up the stairs as I fixed my shoes
He came downstairs messing with his tie "You know I be struggling with this damn tie"
"Come here" I told him
He walked up to me and I fixed his bow tie.
"You okay? I asked him
He shrugged "I don't know yet"
"We'll get you through this" I assured him "Now lets go"
Rashad grabbed Noel's carseat and we got on the elevator. We got in Rashad's truck and he drove to the church. It was completely quiet the whole ride, not even Noel had any baby gibberish to say.
We pulled up to the church and got out. Rashad got Noel's stroller out and I strapped in as I pushed her to the church. I held Rashad's hand as we walked inside.
"Im so glad you guys could come" Ant's mom pulled us into a hug she leaned down peeping at Noel in the stroller "Hey pretty girl"
"How are you holding up?" I asked as Rashad let my hand go to go talk to Ant's brother
She sighed "I'm holding on chile. I'll be at peace with things once he's in the ground resting in peace"
I nodded "You know if there anything you need me and Rashad will come-"
She cut me off "Amour your so sweet, I thank you for continuously checking up on us and sending food to our home"
"Its really no problem. I just want to help in all this as much as possible"I assured her
After we all sat outside talking until we all went into the church. I walked up with Rashad to view the body and then we sat down. I rubbed his back as the service went on. He held my hand tightly.
Once the service was over we all walked to the back to the graveyard. I pushed my sunglasses up on my face as a couple tears dropped from my face. Everyone was crying once we got to the gravesite.
The flowers were placed on the flowers. Talia, Leah,and I went up and put our roses on the casket and kissed it.
"Fly high Ant" I whispered before taking my seat back beside Rashad
He hung his head low letting tears drop every now and again. Leah was leaning her head on me bawling crying. Talia comforted Ty hugging him and rubbing his back. Mama J was comforting Ant's mom and his brother. This was such an emotional time for us all.
Once the funeral was over and they lowered Ant into the ground. We all got into our cars and went to Ant's mom house for the repast. It was food and just time so everybody could comfort one another.
Ant's mom was holding Noel as she walked around the house talking to everyone.
"That funeral was beautiful" Leah said clutching her tissues
Talia nodded "It really was. But it was hard seeing Rashad, Ty and Trip down like that. They don't cry about nothing"
I went outside to check on Rashad. He was outside smoking a blunt with some of the guys, they were in better spirits as they were laughing and joking
"Where's Noel?" He asked hitting the blunt
"Ant's mom has her" I told him
He nodded. I just stood by his side just listening to them reminisce with different stories about Ant. They all loved him dearly. The mood of the entire house was uplifted once everybody joined in with stories.
"Can we go?" Rashad whispered in my ear
I know he was probably overwhelmed with today. We said our goodbyes and then proceeded to leave and head back to our Condo. I took Noel out of her church clothes and laid her down for a nap. I took off my clothes and went downstairs to see Rashad sitting down staring off into space. I took a seat down beside him rubbing his back.
"Rashad?"
He just continued to stare.
"Rashad?"
He snapped back into reality "Huh? What?"
"Your staring off into space. Are you okay?"
He sighed "Nah I'm not. I thought after the funeral I would be. But right now, I just feel worst"
"Come on Rashad" I grabbed his hand leading up the stairs to our room
I sat him on the bed and went into the bathroom and started to run a hot bubble bath with the jets on for him. I went back into the room and stripped off his clothes piece by piece.
"Amour what are you doing?" He asked with a raised eyebrow
He was down to his boxers and I led him in to the bathroom "Get in"
He looked at me "Im not getting in this girly ass bubble bath"
I rolled my eyes chuckling "Nigga get your ass in"
He sighed taking off his boxers and slipping in. He sunk his body in having bubbles come up to his neck. I sat on the edge of tub.
"A little peace. Bubble baths and low lights. The jets will massage your body so you can relax. Todays been a long day, you need it" I told him
He closed his eyes just as I was getting up.
"Where you going?" He asked
I smiled "Downstairs to do some work"
He grabbed my hand "Come in"
"Boy I'm not getting in that tub with you. The bath is for you" I giggled
He pulled me making me fall in. My clothes were soaked and so was my hair.
"Oooooooh you are gonna pay for this weave honey" I said
He laughed "Come on just relax with me"
"Guess I don't have no choice now do I?" I joked pulling off all my wet clothes
Rashad pulled me close to him and we cuddled up in the tub just taking the time to relax. Rashad kissed my forehead.
"Thank you" He whispered in my ear
"For what?"
"Being there for me, when you didn't have to be" He responded
I turned to face him "Rashad I'd never leave you especially at a time like this. You needed me the most and thats why I remained by your side"
I kissed and he kissed me back. Lets just say from that moment things got a lot more steamy in that bubble bath.
