I was meeting with Amour for the first time since that night. She insisted on meeting out somewhere rather than just coming back to the house. I agreed for the sake of argument. I pulled up to the restaurant and hopped out walking inside. I read the text that said she was seated in the back so I kept walking until I spotted her. I slid in the booth across from her.
"Uh hey" I said nervously
"Hey" She said showing me a small smile before turning her attention back to Noel "I apologize for falling off the face of the Earth and not letting you know your child was safe. I needed time to clear my head."
"I understand. I knew y'all were okay, and you wouldn't put either of you in harms way" I told her
She unbuckled her out the carrier and handed her to me over the table. I missed Noel so much. She bounced around in my hands, smiling, and giggling at me.
"She missed her daddy so much" Amour said breaking my stare at Noel
I smirked "Well I missed her too. Why'd you wanna meet here?"
"So we can talk openly without yelling and screaming." She said crossing her arms
"Okay, well I just wanna say I'm sorr-" She put up her hand causing me to stop
She shook her head "I don't want your apology Rashad. Like I said I wish ya'll the best. I'm here to talk about Noel and how we are gonna do this coparenting"
I was taken back by her straight forwardness.
"I'm listening" I said
She sighed "I know you are thinking this but of course Noel is going to stay with me. I'm willing to do the weekends or every couple of days she goes with you. I'm actually even willing to do whenever you wanna see her. I don't want to keep you away from your child BUT I want it to be organized"
"I appreciate that. I can deal with her staying with you and me seeing her on the weekends or whenever you need me to keep her or I wanna see her" I told her
"Well thats great. Noel is continuing to grow and I want you to be there every step of the way for all special moments, all birthday parties and all that even though we are not together" She said "Ariel's birthday is coming around. You are more than welcomed to come as you know she loves you." She explained
I started to open my mouth but she kept talking.
"I am in the process of trying to buy my own home so I will be sending a moving team to pick up and pack up all my stuff and some of Noel's just to get her started in my new home" She told me
I scrunched up my face "Just stay at the house now"
"Truth be told, I'on wanna be nowhere near where you and shorty was doing y'all business at" She said bluntly "Imma just get me a new spot"
The way she talking to me it's like we back where we were before we started kicking it. Her mean mug was just like how it was, her attitude was like how it used to be.
"All I gotta say is, if thats your new shorty, cool. She better not disrespect my child, hurt my child, or anything of the sort or Imma lay her ass out, and I put that on yo life" She said bluntly
I nodded "I don't even know about any of that. I'm really just coolin' focusing on my daughter"
She scoffed "Coolin? But couldn't keep it in your pants? Yeah sure Rashad"
I smacked my lips "Man, I told you how that shit was Amour"
"Let me just ask you a question" She said "You coolin? Focused on your child? But couldn't keep it in your pants to keep the home she had together? How that work Rashad?"
I was stuck on stupid; I couldn't even answer.
"My point exactly." She grabbed her purse zipped it up "I'm not gonna get loud in here with you or cause a scene cause that would look bad on both of our parts."
She reached for Noel and I handed her to her. She buckled her in the carseat.
"So what now Amour?" I asked her
She sighed "The marriage is off. You are dead to me. We will only talk if it concerns Noel. And thats it."
She smiled picking up the carseat and her purse "Bye"
She walked away and out the restaurant. I seen her buckle Noel's carseat into what looked like her moms car and then drive off.
I dont know how I thought this conversation would go but this wasn't it. I could not even be mad at her. I fucked up. I broke up the family. This is my fault.
