Jay was conducting a meeting with his employees in the conference room. The atmosphere was heavy; every employee sat in stiff silence, their eyes focused, none daring to interrupt. Jay Erickson's intense reputation preceded him—people didn't just listen to him, they feared him.

Among those present were Dev and Elina, both attending as representatives of Lynch Enterprise. The meeting's purpose was to discuss the upcoming collaborative project with Erickson Enterprise—one of the biggest joint ventures both companies had planned.

Jay's phone buzzed against the polished table.

He ignored it.

But it vibrated again. And again. Reluctantly, with a tight jaw, Jay reached for it.

He answered it with a sigh. "Yes—?"

"MR. ERICKSONNNNN!!" came a shrill, panicked scream.

Jay instantly jerked the phone away from his ear, wincing. Every head in the room turned toward him. The air froze.

"Hello? Mr. Erickson? Are you there?" came the same voice again, now a little softer but still frantic.

"Miss Booby," Jay gritted through his teeth, "I'm in a meeting."

"Oh... sorry, Mr. Erickson!" Jessy chirped, but before she could say more, Jay ended the call with a sharp tap.

"Right, where were we—" Jay began, only for the phone to start ringing again.

"Mr. Ericksoooonnn~!"

"Damn it, are you trying to make my ears bleed?" he hissed in a whisper-shout.

Dev and Elina, seated beside him, couldn't help but snicker. Jessy's voice was so loud, they could hear her from across the table. Tanya, on the other hand, was visibly annoyed, her fingers twitching against her notepad.

"Oops, sorry! But I have something super urgent to tell you!" Jessy insisted.

Jay sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What possibly urgent matter do you have, Miss Booby?"

"I'm going to cook dinner tonight! Yaaaaay!" she announced, overly enthusiastic. "You know... to repent for my sins. Since I made you miss your client's wedding. Redemption dinner! Hehe!"

Jay leaned back, glaring at his phone like it had personally betrayed him. "Throw that dinner idea in the trash. I was in a meeting, damn it! Put the phone down!"

"No, no, no! Please! Say you'll come to dinner! Please, pretty please, just say yes!"

"Miss Booby," Jay muttered darkly, "I'm going to kill you if you call me back again."

He hung up.

Barely a second later, his phone rang again. His expression twisted.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT NOW?!" he bellowed.

"...S-sir?" came a timid voice from the other end.

Jay blinked.

It was his receptionist.

Dev practically fell out of his chair laughing, while Jay sat there mortified, his face flushed. He glared daggers at Dev, who was wiping tears from his eyes.

"There's a call for you, sir," the receptionist said nervously. "Some officers want to speak with you. Should I connect them?"

"Yeah. Sure. Connect it," Jay muttered in defeat.

He took the call and tried to sound composed. "Yes, sir. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Hi again! So... are you coming over for dinner?" It was Jessy. Again.
