NO POV

Jessy jolted awake, heart pounding in panic. Her wrists ached—trapped by cold, unforgiving steel. She looked down and saw she was handcuffed to the arms of a wooden chair. The metal dug into her skin, leaving angry red marks.

She bit her lip and twisted, testing the slack—just as the door creaked open and slammed shut. She flinched violently, the only movement her restraints allowed.

"You're awake, baby?" a voice purred from the shadows.

Aria stepped into the light.

"A...Aria?" Jessy's voice trembled, her eyes wide with fear. "What are you doing?"

"What am I doing?" Aria laughed darkly. Without warning, she lunged forward and wrapped her hands around Jessy's throat. Jessy kicked and squirmed, her breath choking out in ragged gasps. Her vision blurred.

Then—release. Aria let go.

Jessy coughed violently, struggling to catch her breath.

"Please... let me go, Aria. I treated you like a friend. Why are you doing this?" she begged, voice hoarse and broken.

"Friend?" Aria sneered. "I never saw you as a friend, bitch. You're a pest. A virus that infected our lives."

Jessy's eyes shimmered with tears. "I never did anything to you..."

"You existed," Aria spat. "And that's enough. You ruined everything. So now—I'm going to erase you."

With a vicious snarl, Aria yanked Jessy's hair and landed a brutal punch to her face. Jessy cried out, her head snapping to the side as blood poured from her nose. Pain exploded through her skull.

"DON'T. SHOUT." Aria hissed through clenched teeth. "Here—you're just my little slave."

Without another word, she stormed out of the room.

Jessy whimpered through gritted teeth. "Jay..." she sobbed. "Please..."

On the other side, Jay jolted awake, chest heaving. The nightmare had been too real.

"God..." he muttered, running a trembling hand through his hair.

A soft voice tugged him out of his thoughts.

"Dad?"

Jay blinked and looked toward the doorway. Julissa stood there in her little nightgown, holding her stuffed bunny by the arm. Her eyes were rimmed with worry.

He quickly sat up straighter and tried to soften the lines on his face.

"Hey, sweetheart. Couldn't sleep?"

She shook her head and padded over to him. Without a word, she climbed into his lap and curled into his chest. He held her tightly, breathing in the faint scent of baby shampoo in her hair.

"She's gonna be okay... right?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "Mom?"

Jay shut his eyes for a second, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"She will," he promised. "I'll bring her home. No matter what it takes."

Julissa nodded and wrapped her arms around him. "I trust you, Daddy."

His throat tightened. He rocked her gently, rubbing her back until her breathing slowed, her small body growing heavy in his arms.

"Can I sleep here tonight?" she mumbled, already drifting.

"Yeah, baby," he said quietly. "Right here."

He held her until she slipped into sleep, then carefully lay her down on the bed beside him. He pulled the blanket over her and watched her for a long moment—peaceful and untroubled. Just how Jessy always wanted her to be.

With a deep breath, Jay stood and moved to the window, resting a hand on the cool glass as he looked out into the dark.

His thoughts drifted to Jessy.

He could still hear her laugh echoing in his ears. The way she'd wrinkle her nose when she was annoyed. The warmth of her arms sneaking around his waist when she thought no one was looking. That shy little pout when she didn't get her way. Her scent, her voice, her fire.

He swallowed hard, his jaw clenched.

The bed felt colder without her. The house felt hollow.

"Come back to me, Jess," he murmured to the night. "I'm coming for you. And I swear—I won't stop until I bring you home."

A sudden splash of cold water dragged Jessy back to consciousness with a gasp. Her body jerked against the chair.

"Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty," Aria mocked, sauntering into the room and twirling a chair around before sitting across from her. She set a greasy pizza box on her lap and took a bite, licking sauce from her fingers.

"You hungry?" she teased, smirking.

Jessy turned her face away.

Aria's expression darkened. "Oh? Too good to look at me now?"

She slammed the pizza box aside, stood, and grabbed Jessy's chin, her nails digging cruelly into her skin. "You need to be punished."

She pulled a few papers from her pocket and tore them into shreds. "Eat this," she snapped, trying to force the scraps into Jessy's mouth.

Jessy spat them out, coughing violently.

"Damn it!" Aria screeched. She shoved a hand into her pocket and pulled out a small blade. Her eyes gleamed with twisted glee.

"I want to hear you scream, darling."

Without hesitation, she drove the blade into Jessy's hand.

Jessy screamed, her voice cracking as pain surged through her. She tried to pull away, but the handcuffs held her in place. Dizziness washed over her and colors swam before her eyes.

"P-please..." she gasped. "Aria... let me go..."

Aria slowly withdrew the blade, watching the blood ooze. "Aww... poor baby," she cooed mockingly. Then she drew the blade up Jessy's arm, slicing shallow lines along her skin as Jessy shrieked in agony.

"You have to suffer for being with him," Aria hissed, voice venomous.

A new voice came from the doorway.

"Don't kill her yet, Aria. Let her feel real pain before she dies."

Jessy's blood ran cold. She slowly lifted her head and stared toward the door.

Her eyes widened in shock.

"Y...YOU?!"
