JAY POV

God... everything is ruined.

Days of relentless work—gone in minutes. I don't give a damn about myself, but my team... They've worked so hard on this project. Watching it all go down the drain feels like a punch straight to the gut.

"Shit!" I roared, slamming my fist against the floor. A sharp pain shot through my knuckles, but I welcomed it. My staff watched me from the corners of the room—I could feel their eyes on me—but I couldn't bring myself to look up. My gaze stayed locked on the charred edges of the papers we couldn't save.

My head was a whirlwind. Frustration surged through me like lava—scorching and uncontrollable. I could feel it churning, begging to explode, to destroy everything in its path. If I let it spill over, I'd say things I'd regret.

And I did.

Because of her.

Because of Jessy.

I should've fired her a long time ago...

No. Wait.

"I don't need your fucking sorry. You know what? I'm done with you and your damn stupidity. You're fired!"

The words still echoed in my ears. Sharp. Brutal. Unforgiving.

"Shit..." I muttered, dragging a hand through my hair, the guilt settling like cement in my chest.

As I turned to leave the room, Tanya stepped forward, grabbing my wrist gently.

"Jay, it's okay... Don't stress about it. She deserved it anyway."

I shook her off, not saying a word, and stormed out.

"Holden!" I barked, finding him by the gateway. "Where the hell is she? Did you stop her?!"

He blinked in confusion. "Mr. Jay... who are you talking about?"

"Jessy! Damn it! I—" I exhaled sharply, swallowing the shame that twisted in my throat. "I didn't mean it. I didn't mean to fire her..."

Holden's expression softened. "Calm down, sir. I haven't seen her leave the house. Maybe she's still inside."

I bolted back in, my legs moving faster than my thoughts. She might be packing. She might be leaving. I sprinted to her room on the first floor.

I opened the door—and froze.

There she was, curled up beside the bed, hugging her knees tightly to her chest. Her shoulders shook as she sobbed silently, her entire body trembling.

My heart clenched. I hated this. I hated what I'd done to her.

I hated what I'd done to her

"Calm down, Jay... don't ruin this more than you already have..." I whispered to myself.

When I shut the door gently behind me, she startled. Her teary eyes snapped up, and for a moment, I saw the fear flash in them. She slowly stood up, lowering her gaze.
