Chapter 52: Little Runaway part 6

Jugheads P.O.V
It was in the middle of breakfast that Dad said
"Your Mom is coming to visit" I dropped spoon and herd it fall in my bowl splashing milk and cereal over the table
"What?" I asked
"That's great!" JB said clearly overjoyed
"She told me last night she wanted to come out for a weekend says she misses you guys" I bit my tongue to refrain from saying anything

"Isn't that great Jug?" JB asked looking at me. I put on my best fake smile
"Yeah JB that's great" I stood up went to put my plate and cup in the sink then walked towards the front door anxiously putting on my shoes and jacket.

"Where are you going?" JB asked
"School" I replied
"School doesn't start for another hour" Dad replied
"Yeah" I cleared my throat "Betty wants to meet before class starts, something about the Blue and Gold" before anyone could say anything I already opened the door and slammed it behind me. My legs were shaking as I sinked down. I took deep breaths trying to calm down, my phone started ringing I looked down at the caller ID seeing it was Betty.

"Hello?"
"Hey just wondering where you are, you said you were gonna walk me to school."
"SHIT!" I screamed standing up "Betty I'm so sorry I'm- I'm on my way now"
"Jug you'll never make it, by time you get here we are gonna be late for school."
"Now I can make it I-
"Jug it's ok we can just meet at school"
"Ok, I'll see you then and Betts I'm sorry for not showing up"
"Jug it's ok you probably had something on your mind"
"You have no idea"
"You can tell me at school" I nodded
"I'll see you then, I love you Betts"
"I love you too Juggie" 

I hung up and looked at the time. Shit! How long have I been sitting here?" I ran all the way to school only to have made it right at the bell.
Panting I walked into my first period class and took a seat right next to Archie. Taking one look at me he raised his eyebrow
"You ok Jug?"
"Yeah I- I stopped to catch my breath
"I just ran to school"
"Why did you do that?"
"So I wouldn't be late"
"What happened?" I froze remembering the news that took place over breakfast.

"Jug?" Archie asked he even waved his hand over my face still frozen.
"Jug you ok?" Still silence I herd Archie say "Cheryl help I think I broke Jughead" I looked over at the two readheads Cheryl scoffed
"He's fine see he's looking at you right now" Archie turned to face me and put a hand on my shoulder
"Jug what happened?" His voice more serious. When I went to open my mouth the teacher walked in and all of my attention was on class. I didn't see Archie until lunch where we were all sitting in the cafeteria. Betty placed a kiss on my cheek when we sat down

"Missed you this morning"
"Why?" Archie asked
"Well yesterday Juggie here said he would walk me to school but he never showed up."
"Yeah and he ran to school today, when I asked him what happened in class he just stood there frozen."
"Maybe he's malfunctioning, he's expressing emotions that aren't angsty" Veronica said
"Guys I'm right here" Archie put down his fork"
"Dude seriously what happened to you this morning?"
"My Mom is coming"
"What?!?!" Everyone shouted
"Yeah Dad broke the news to me over breakfast, kinda ruined my appetite."
"Why is she coming?" Archie asked I sighed
"I don't know maybe to see her daughter that ran away" I replied
"Or maybe she misses you and your dad" Betty said taking my hand in hers
"I-
"No Jughead you are not going to get all negative on us" Veronica said
"Yeah Jug I mean what's the worst that could happen?"  Archie asked
