A/N: Yay! I'm maybe back on schedule! I'm planning this full plot. I have holes, a few too many, but there are in a couple chapters. I have a lot of stuff I'm signing up for, but hopefully that will be over soon. And, I'm in my living room so I can seen the front of the house and the back: right now, it is clear blue skies up front and storm clouds out back...

Johanna's POV:

It is Saturday now, and I think I have avoided talking to Daric long enough. Okay, so I have talked to him. We have actually been kind of inseparable. The thing is, we haven't confronted how we both acted before we accepted each other or how we -- well, mainly Daric-acted before we discovered we are mates. Though we -- again that means Daric -- are different now, we still need to clear the air, address the elephant in the room.

That is why I am here, to talk about this. I raise my hand and knock on the door. A moment later, I hear him tell me to enter. I open the door and step into the room. I close the door behind me as I step up to Logan's desk.

"Can I talk to you about something?" I ask.

"Of course." Logan nods and gestures to one of the chairs in front of him. I sit down while he clears away some of the papers lying on top of his desk. When he is done, he folds his hands in front of me and smiles. "What did you want to talk about?"

"It's about Daric," I begin.

"I thought it would be." He nods at me.

"Well, um," I clear my throat. "I just-It's... his past," I sigh.

"You want to know what I think of it?" He offers as a starting point.

"Yes."

He looks at me for a minute in thought. "I'm sure you know what I think means absolutely nothing in all of this." Pause. "However, I will tell you. It might help you understand what you want.

"I do not agree with my brother's past. He could have gone about his life differently. Although, it has helped to shape who he is today. That is not to say that he doesn't need some guiding. No one can change their past, but they can change their future. I'm not saying this to pressure you in any way, but I have always figured that his mate would help in that final guiding."

No pressure? Who does he think he is? That seems like a lot of pressure.

"What do you mean by that?" I ask. Let's get things straight.

"He has never had the clearest picture on what a mate is. At the moment, I believe he is teetering between two different paths for the future. It is that little idea of a mate that has gotten him confused on a few things. Also, he has a habit of doing things without thinking about the consequences of others. That is why I think his mate will guide him. That is not to say you have tell him what is right and what is wrong. It is that being there will clear things in his mind. It is up to him to interpret them."

Geeze, He is sounding less like the nerdy up-in-coming Alpha and more like Daric's psychologist or something.

It is scary what he is saying, though. He doesn't understand mates? He is confused about them? He will soon clear things in his mind? What does all of this mean? What does this mean about us?

"What if things don't get cleared up right?" I ask timidly, almost afraid of the answer.

Logan's face softens. "He is of an Alpha's family. By now, it is against every fiber in his body to intentionally harm you in any way."
