One Week, Three Days, Eight Hours, and. . . [some number] Minutes Later. . .
(A/N: It's Monday FYI)Amanda came over to my house once again after school. She has been coming around a lot lately. I can smell her around the house now. Whenever I smell her scent mingling with the rest, Willy and I become ecstatic.
We walked into the kitchen, and I went to the fridge to grab a couple of water bottles for us. Amanda is looking outside at the forest. I walk to stand next to her, and I follow her line of sight. It is beautiful. The tall tree tops hold an amazing mixture of light greens and dark greens. The light touching the floor is tinted green drawing you toward the freshness. Just looking at it, you can almost smell it even if you have never been in it.
I turn to glance at Amanda. My breath is taken away. She is so much more beautiful. She is the most beautiful thing in this universe and probably the multiverse.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" I ask pulling her away from her thoughts.
She stares into my intense gaze. She swallows. I blink, and my face changes as my lips curl into a small smile. She returns it with her own. 'Sure.'
I open the back door, and we step onto the deck. Fresh smell of the wet dirt-from being rained on last night-continuing to dry in the warm early-Autumn sun. As we cross the yard, I pass Amanda's water to her.
"Thanks." She smiles.
We near the tree line, our feet sink into the soggy and slick mud. Our feet past the trees' shadows, and soon our whole bodies slide under the veil of green filtered light. There is no path so we make our own, stepping over roots wiggling their way out of the soil and branches that have fallen from their original homes. We walk in silent for a while. It isn't uncomfortable or awkward. However, it isn't necessarily a desired one.
As we walk side by side, I continue to sneak glances at Amanda to my right. Her attention, on the other hand, remains on the forest floor ahead of her, occasionally peeking at the trees enveloping us in their embrace. I slide my hand over the bark of some of the trees we pass.
"You're lucky to live with this behind your house. It has quite a calming effect." Amanda states while she inspects the trees to her right.
We stop to take a break for a minute. Amanda walks a few more steps. A ray of lightly tinted green sun light shines through the tree on her like a spot light. She looks to the tree tops with a giant smiles on her lips. She turns slowly looking around. Amanda turns to me with her beautiful smile and musical laugh. Right then, I know I can't keep this up anymore. I know I can't wait anymore. I need my mate. I need her to know I love her and that I can no longer ignore the mate bond.
"Amanda," I almost whisper. Noticing my serious tone, Amanda's smile fades. "I can't be friends with you anymore."
Amanda's face falls, and she looks down to her shoes. "Oh," she breathes. "I-I, um. I understand." She turns to walk away.
But, I grab her hand. "No, no you don't. I didn't mean- what I- I just." I sigh and look back into her wonderful eyes. "Amanda Matthews, may I kiss you?"
Her eyes widen, and she freezes, only staring back at me. After a moment I see her head dip down slightly, and I take that as a 'yes'. I drop by head down so our lips meet. I feel a spark streak between our lips. And the kiss is. . . a little awkward. But, when I weave my hands around her waist and pull her up to my height, the better leverage our lips gain makes my knee grow weak. Everything except my mate's lips against mine and her hands tangling into my hair fades into nothing. Any concept of time disappears. It could be next year by now, and I would have no clue.
Amanda's arms wrap around my neck further to tighten her hold on me. I respond by tightening my own hold on her waist. I feel her toes point against my shins where they dangle as, what I guess, they curl.
My hands and fingers try to find a better grip to hold my little mate. As they do, part of her shirt pulls up allowing me to feel her smooth skin. I feel a moan vibrate my lips. Whether it belonged to her, me, or maybe both of us, I can not say.
Sadly, all things must come to end just like this must when we need air. But, I am able to quickly capture her bottom lip with my teeth before she can get all the way back. She lets off an adorable giggle.
My eyes flutter open with hers. Her cheeks are flushed, and her lips are stretched into a wide smile. I can already feel my cheeks burning from my broad grin.
I press one last peck against Amanda's lips before I place her back down on her feet.
We stare into each other's eyes with goofy smile plastered to our lips as we begin to regain some composure. I reach out-which really isn't that far-and grip her small hand that fits perfectly into my own.
"Amanda Susan Maxwell, will you accept me as your mate?"
Her smiles grow even more-if that is possible. "Only if you, Logan Carter Anderson, accept me as your mate."
"Of course I do," I mutter as I lean down to press my lips to her soft pink ones again. I go to pull back, but Amanda shoots a hand around my neck to keep my lips in place. I laugh, but I don't really want to stop kissing here either. I wrap my arms around her waist once again and lift her. Our lips move insuperlative harmony, and she fit in my arms like it is the only place we should be-in each other's arms.
We finally pull apart and suck in deep breaths. "We need to be heading back." I tell my mate who is displaying a radiant smile. "It will be getting dark soon."
Her smile turns into a mock pout. "I guess you make a point."
I put her feet back on the ground and we walk back to my house hand in hand.
