Well, here we stand. In front of the back door. Hand in hand. Staring at the glass. Silently. I twist my head to Amanda and back for a quick glance at her.

"We should probably tell them." I ask carefully. "Right?"

I peek at Amanda again to see her nod. "Yeah."

Pause.

I feel my thumb aimlessly draw circles on the back of Amanda's hand. The sensation of eyes on me develops. I turn and capture Amanda's wonderfully green eyes. Her cheeks stain with pink. Her blush increases her beauty further. I smile and lace a small kiss on her lips.

"Look what has finally happened." I pull back at Shelby's smiling voice. A broad smirk plays at her lips as she leans-arms crossed-against the door frame.

I narrow at her, but, before I can say a word, Mikena pops up from behind her. "Hi Logi!" She hugs my legs. "Hi Manda! Oo, you are holding hands!"

A small smile splits my lips. "So we are."

"Awe." I look back to Shelby and her jutted out bottom lip. "You two are so cute."

I roll my eyes. "Excuse us." I say to Shelby. "Amanda and I need to get inside and-"

"Make kissy faces with each other?" Shelby attempts to finish for me.

I feel my cheeks heat a little. I pray it isn't enough to notice, though. "That was not what I was going to say." I reply emotionlessly.

"Okay" Shelby draws out with a wink at the end.

Amanda lets off a small cough. I look over to see her bright pink cheeks. I can't help the smile that appears on my face from her beauty. I straighten my face before returning my gaze to Shelby. "If you would excuse us." I push past Shelby while dragging Amanda behind me with our interlaced fingers. I walk us up the stairs and into the game room. When I stop us, I pull Amanda to my chest in a loving embrace I have waiting to give her, my mate. I can't help but be as close to her as I can as often as I can now. She rest her chin on my chest as she gazes upon my face.

"So," I whisper. "How are going to tell them?"

Amanda shrugs her shoulders.

"We could do another dinner." I suggest.

Amanda's nose scrunches. "Um, I don't want another Daric situation on our hands."

"Yeah, that wouldn't be good." I plant a quick peck on her nose.

She smiles and rests her cheek on my chest. I tighten my hold and rest my chin in her hair.

"We could go to your house." I suggest. "Or just out to a restaurant. We could bring only my parents and your parents. Shelby already knows and Mikena has already been thinking it anyway."

Amanda sighs. "I think that sounds nice." Her voice is muffled.

I kiss the top of her head. "Now, all we have to think about is telling to pack."

Amanda 'oo's negatively.

I chuckle. "What?"

"We can wait a little to do that."

"Why?"

"I think I would be like jumping fully into arctic water. I can be a good way to quickly get use to the temperature change, or. . . it can stop your heart."

I smile. "Okay, so we can wait a little. But, we can't wait too long. I want to be able to hold your hand in the hallway and give you little pecks on the cheek at school." After a second, I gain a suspition. "You rolled your eyes at me, didn't you?"

Amanda nods her head.

We remain quiet for awhile. I kiss the top of her head. "We sound probably call our parents now, C12 H22 O11."

"Did you-"

"I just called you sucrose, yes." I chuckle.

"Or maltose."

"Yes there are a few with that formula." I untangle my arms from around her waist and shoulders. I peek at the time. It's about 6:30. Wrapping an arm around Amanda's shoulder, I guide her out the door. "Come on, let's go down stairs so you can call your parents, and I'll talk to mine."

"Your parents are home?" Amanda's eyebrows rise. "How long were we in there?"

I shrug. "It could have been in the forest."

"Still that seems like a long time in both places." She mutters.

"I didn't really notice 'cause time seems to stand still ever I'm around you."

Amanda starts to laugh. No, she start guffawing. I bounces off the walls, floor, and ceiling.

"Wait?" I whine.

"That was so bad!"

I make a show of pulling my arm off her shoulders and crossing my arms. I tilt my nose to the sky.

"Wow." She smiles.

I leave her as I walk down stair by myself, arms still crossed. I hear Amanda, and her quieting giggles, follow soon after. Amanda walks to the phone, and I leave her to talk to my parent who are in the kitchen.

"Hey parents." I wave.

"Hello son." Mom laughs.

I sit down at the table with them. "So, I was wondering if you two would be able to go to dinner with Amanda, her parents, and me tonight."

Mom smiles. "Yes, of course we can, right Hon?"

Mom and I turn toward Dad. He appears to have a knowing smile on his lips. "There is no reason to not."

Amanda stick her head around the corner. "Hey, um, where are we going?"

I look to my mom. She shrugs. "Missy's Diner?"

"Okay." Amanda smiles and disappears around the corner again.

About an hour later, we are seated at a corner booth at Missy's Diner. Despite the title, Missy's Diner is nice place. It's not really fancy, but more like an Applebee's. On one side of the table sits Mom, Dad, and then me. The other side sits Chris, Sue, and Amanda is across from me. We order our drinks, and I look at Amanda and send her a look that I hope asks 'now?' I see her nod.

"Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson," Everyone at the table chuckles a little at me for calling my parents formally. "Amanda and I have something to say." I look into Amanda's eye with a radiant smile. I am so happy I get to say this. I never thought I would be able to do this one day, but here I am. Sitting with my parent, my mate's parents, and my mate herself. "Amanda and I have accepted each other as mates."

"Awe." Mom's arm shimmies around Dad, and her hand pinches my cheek. "My baby boy is growing up." Though I know Mom is trying to be funny, I can hear her holding back tears.

"Logan," Chris calls me. "You better protect my daughter."

I out on a serious face and nod. "Of course, sir. I won't let anything happen to her-" I turn to Amanda. "-to you." Amanda and I share a smile.

"And Amanda," Mom calls. "You better make sure Logan stops getting into trouble." We laugh along with her.

The waiter comes back soon and takes our orders. By the end of the night, I can say that I have had my first meal with my official mate.
