Amanda stayed at my house for a couple hours after the rogues were dealt with. I wasn't going to take chances with her. Soon after she left around 7:30, I went to my room, played a few games for a little while, and went to sleep.
Daric hadn't returned home at all last night either. Through the grapevine, my father and I learned that he was indeed staying with Marcus. I still can't decide if he stayed at Marcus's house again out of fear of what Dad would do to him or to just spite him again. For his sake, I hope it's not the latter.
Once I get to school, first period comes and goes quicker than I had hoped. The time before lunch slips by at an adequate speed. When I enter the lunch room, I am greeted by Amanda already sitting at our spot.
Our spot. That sounds nice.
"So, what's up Buttercup?" I ask as I take my seat beside Amanda.
She sends a cold glare my way which I return with a toothy grin. She sighs and shakes her head. "Not much. I have Tommy's birthday party to go to Saturday."
I narrow. There is that name again, Tommy. Who is that?
Who is that indeed? Willy invades my thoughts.
Will you can it! I don't want to get worked up here! I snap back.
I blink back to reality and see Amanda's sweet face smirking darkly at me.
"What?" I ask her cautiously.
"Is someone jealous?" She jokes.
"No!" I interject. "But, um, who is he?"
The air becomes filled with her laugh. "He's an old friend. He and his family moved here a while ago. They are halfies and wanted to be with the rest of their family. Sam, she is his cousin."
Sam's girl? That's good to know.
Less competition. Willy once again comments, but I ignore him this time.
"They were going to move to Red Star territory," Amanda continues. "His grandam lived there. She died right before they were about to move. There weren't any halfies there after her so they moved here. There still aren't any there. There is no rule against halfies there, but it's just that none are there." She shrugs.
Silence falls on us like a blanket. After a moment, I break pause. "Mind if I tag along with you to Tommy's birthday party?"
A small smile splits her lips. "Sure, you can come. They won't mind."

Amanda and I exit the lunch room to be greeted with the sight of Daric pushing himself off the lockers and approaching us. The look in his wild eyes makes me instinctively step in front of my mate a little.
"So you decided to show up to school today, did you?" I ask once he stops in front of us.
Daric shrugs. "I was missing my big brother's face." His lips curl upward in a snarling smirk.
"You didn't make a smart move on your part, not returning home last night. After the rogue attack, you disappeared once again. The Alpha won't be too happy with you." I say in a calculated manner.
Daric's eyes narrow, but his posture remains relaxed. "How would you know? You weren't even there."
"No, he wasn't." Amanda speaks for the first time behind me.
