Chapter 25

It's been about a week now and apparently I have a girlfriend. I haven't heard from Jace and Emily and Abigail haven't talked to me either. The only person I could talk to was Maribeth but I still felt lonely. I decided to finally talk to the both of them so when it came to lunch time, I went straight up to them.

They were sitting at our original table but I've been sitting with Maribeth a lot. When I went up to them they both looked at me then got up and started to walk away so I grabbed both of their wrists making them turn back to me.

"Why have you guys been ignoring me?" I asked but they stayed silent. "Guys please talk to me." They both looked at each other and sighed.

"Your little girlfriend told us to stay away from you or you'll end up getting hurt... badly." Abigail said looking at me with a worried look in her eyes.

"What are you guys talking about?"

"Maribeth threatened to hurt you if we didn't stop hanging around you." Emily said crossing her arms. I stood there silent. I wasn't sure what to say.

"We care about you Jade and don't want you getting hurt so we didn't want to take any chances." Abigail wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly but I couldn't do the same.

"Why would she try to hurt me though?" I asked.

"That we don't know. But we got kind of scared so we listened to her." I sighed.

"I'll talk to her about it. But besides that, have you guys seen Jace at all?"

"He talked to us this morning but seemed scared for his life." Emily uncrossed her arms.

"What did he tell you guys?"

"Something about Jason and Maribeth. He wasn't too clear about it." I hugged both of them tightly.

"Well thank you for talking to me. I love you guys." They hugged me back.

"We love you too." We all then heard Maribeth calling out to me.

"Ooh Jaaaade." She came up from behind me and hugged before kissing my cheek. I didn't say anything. "How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. Just talking to my friends."

"Oh ok. Well come on. I wanna head to class early." She grabbed my hand and started pulling me away from Emily and Abigail. I turned and looked at them and they looked worried. I mouthed to them that I'll be ok and they nodded at me smiling.

When we got into the building, Maribeth let go of me and turned to face me.

"Can I see your phone?" I tilted my head in confusion.

"Why?"

"I wanna take a picture of us."

"You don't have a phone?" She shook her head. "Oh. Well ok." I took out my phone and unlocked it before handing it to her. It took her a sec to find the camera but eventually she found out and pointed it to us. She kissed my cheek as she took the picture. She still had my phone and kept trying to figure something out. "What are you doing?"

"I wanna post it online if that's ok."

"Oh. Well sure. Do you want me to do it?"

"No no. I'll figure it out." She had my phone for like another five minutes before handing it to me.

School ended later and I waited outside the school for Maribeth since that's what she wanted. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket so I took it out and saw that I had a message. The contact just said UNKNOWN.

Unknown: Jade you need to stay away from Maribeth.

I was confused as to what was going on but I decided to reply.

Me: who is this?

Unknown: it's Jace

Me: oh crap. I'm sorry. I guess your number got deleted.

Unknown: how?

Me: that I have no idea. But why are you telling me to stay away from her?

Unknown: she's Jason's sister and she's helping him by getting to you. He knows that we started talking again.

Me: oh...

Unknown: meet me at your house right now please.

Me: ok

As I put my phone in my pocket, I started walking home until I felt someone grab my wrist. I turned around and saw Maribeth.

"Where are you off to?" She asked.

"Home."

"Oh ok. I'll walk you."

"No no. You don't have to. It's a family emergency." I lied but hopefully she couldn't tell.

"Well I'll still walk you then I'll head home straight after." I sighed before saying ok. We started walking to my house while holding hands. When we got to my house she quickly turned to me and kissed my lips. I wasn't expecting that so I didn't kiss back. With what Emily, Abigail, and Jace told me, I didn't want to kiss back.  "I'll be here to pick you up tomorrow morning ok love?" All I did was nod my head. She kissed me again then started to walk towards her house. I quickly went into my house and up to my room to see Jace staring out the window.

"I'm gonna guess that you saw that?" I asked and he quickly turned around.

"Yeah. You don't actually have feelings for her do you?" He asked me. I shook my head.

"No. I mean yeah she's beautiful but I don't see her that way. I see someone else that way and you should know who that is." I noticed his face turn a little pink which caused me to laugh a little. He walked up to me and held my hands entwining them. I almost forgot how tall her was since we haven't stood this close to each other in a while. I looked up and him and he looked down at me.

"I know now isn't the best time to say this but, I like you a lot Jade." I smiled and felt my face heat up then I heard him chuckle.

"I like you a lot too Jace." We stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity. I slowly felt my self rising up to him before our lips touched. I never thought I'd end up here. Kissing Jace honestly felt amazing and I didn't want it to end so I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. And like I said, it felt amazing.
