Chapter 50

(Jace)

When I got home, I teleported into my room and went downstairs to see if my parents were actually home. They were surprisingly and were sitting on the couch talking about something. I decided to do a little eavesdropping to be funny.

"What if he goes after the girl as well? Since Xavier didn't kill her, he will and you know that." My mom sounded worried. My eyebrows arched and I listened in more.

"They said they were leaving and Jace is leaving with them. He won't find them." My dad answered. So clearly this girl they're talking about is Jade. But who wants to kill her besides Xavier?

"He'll find them I know he will. That's exactly why we moved for a second time. He found us again!" My mom shouted. I heard glass breaking so I quickly went into the living. My mom was standing, my dad was sitting on the couch, and there was pieces of a broken glass cup scattered across the floor.

"The hell is going on?!" I asked as I walked over to them.

"Nothing Jace. I just dropped the cup by accident no need to worry." My mom said to me as she smiled but I could tell it was fake.

"Bullshit. Who wants to kill Jade and why did we randomly move twice? I've been wanting to ask myself but haven't."

"Language young man." My dad stood and pointed at me.

"Now isn't the time to worry about my profanity dad. Who were you guys talking about?" I looked back at my mom. She looked at my dad and he looked back at her. She then looked back at me and sighed.

"Xavier's father." I went silent. I only met his father I think once and he didn't try killing me. I was probably a child or something but I'm not entirely sure. I shook my head.

"Okay let's not worry about that right now. Victoria and her family invited us to dinner at their place before I leave."

"Oh. Well that's nice. Did you say yes?" My mom asked with a worried looking smile on her face. I nodded.

"I... I wanted to make up for those times I constantly put Victoria in danger. I'm surprised her parents don't hate me." I looked down to the ground and ran my fingers through my hair frustratedly. My dad stood up and walked over to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Its ok Jace. No one knew what Xavier's intentions were."

"It should've been obvious though. To me at least. He never liked me. He always wanted what I had. He wants to kill me and take my powers for gods sake. Why?!" I shouted in anger. My parents looked scared. I took a deep breath. "Let's just go to their house. I'm gonna go upstairs and get ready." I teleported up to my room.

We were able to finish packing with the help of my sister's roommate, and nearby neighbors. I'm not able to text Jace so the best we could do is wait for him to get here. About 2 hours have gone by and Jace hasn't finished the dinner thing he had to go to. I probably sound extremely impatient but him not being around makes me paranoid. I feel like since he's not here, I'm being watched by someone who's out to get me.

The more I felt paranoid, the faster my heart started beating. My hands started to feel numb and it was getting harder to breathe. I quickly got up and went to the bathroom. I locked the door and stood in front of the sink. I heard everyone talking outside the door.
