Chapter 24

I tried asking Jace where he thinks he's seen Meribeth before but he said he can't remember. We kind of went around the topic and then started talking about the boy who's looking for him. I ended up finding out that his name was Xavier. Which didn't sit well with me since I used to like a guy with the same name. That one ended up being a complete jerk and I bet this one will be too.

The next day came and things went by like normal. Jace still wasn't coming to school which was understandable. And apparently Xavier is looking for Jace to take away his power for some unknown reason. Even Jace doesn't know why. He was locked up for about 15 years and ended up escaping. I'm not sure why he won't go after Jason instead. He's more powerful. But whatever. I'm gonna help Jace however I can. The rest of the day went by nice and I helped out May at her bakery. She doesn't know that I'm talking to Jace again and I don't know if I can tell her. She'll freak out. Every time she saw me, she'd ask how I'm feeling and I would say "im fine" which I am. I just missed Jace a lot.

When the next day came, Maribeth was waiting outside my house. Emily and Abigail were too I just wasn't expecting to see Maribeth since I didn't yesterday.

"Hey Cutie. How did you sleep?" Maribeth hugged me and since I didn't want to be mean, I hugged her back. I kind of blushed a little when she called me cutie though.

"I slept fine. How about you guys?" I looked at Emily and Abigail and they just stared at Maribeth.

"I slept great. I may or may not have dreamt of you." She winked at me causing me to blush even more. I could tell Emily was getting annoyed since she walked ahead of us on our way to school. And again the day went by like normal but then it came to lunch and things got kind of interesting. Maribeth was sitting with me, Emily, and Abigail but she was sitting next to me and Emily and Abigail were sitting across from us. Maribeth was hugging my arm and resting her head on my shoulder which I guess I didn't mind.

Things got kind of awkward so I started looking around just because but I noticed Derek staring at me. I don't know why. He's hasn't talked to me in a month so now I'm just weirded out. I guess Maribeth noticed him staring at me and kissed me on the cheek. Emily and Abigail's jaws dropped when that happened. Mine did too honestly and so did Derek's. I quickly looked at Maribeth.

"He was staring and you seemed uncomfortable." She immediately flared at Derek.

"Th-thanks." I stuttered. I'm honestly not sure how to react to this. No girl has ever kissed my cheek before. Well technically Emily and Abigail have but they're my best friends so that doesn't really count. The bell rang for class and me and Maribeth didn't have the same classes so she asked me to walk her to class. I decided to and she held my hand the whole way there. And now people think we're dating. I mean she is beautiful but I barely know her. But she is new so I guess I shouldn't complain.

After school came and Emily and Abigail went to there house and Maribeth came with me to my house again. But this time she actually stayed for a few hours and I got to know her a bit better. We have a lot in common surprisingly. She ended up staying the night and I tried letting her sleep in my bed while I sleep on the couch but she insisted that I sleep on my bed with her. I wasn't sure why but I'm not gonna question it.

When I woke up, her arms were wrapped around me. I felt my face heat up and it was kind of hard to move. When I tried sitting up ,she held me tighter.

"Noo don't leave me."

"Maribeth wake up. I need to get ready for school." Maribeth's eyes quickly opened and she sat up. I noticed her face get a bit pink so I tried to hold back a smile.

"S-sorry." She apologized. I told her it was alright and that I was gonna take a quick shower. After I was done and got dressed, I went back in my room and saw Maribeth wearing an outfit of mine. It was a pretty short black plaid skirt and a white button up shirt. The skirt wasn't too short cause if it was i would've thown it out. But in all honesty, I don't know why I still have it. She did look cute though and I felt myself blushing. I guess she noticed and laughed a little.

"Do you like?"

"I-it looks nice on you." I stuttered. She walked up to me and kissed my cheek.

"Thanks cutie. Well we should get going." I didn't get a chance to grab my phone since Maribeth grabbed my hand and pretty much dragged me out of my house. Emily and Abigail weren't waiting outside like they normally do which was odd. I didn't seen them at school either when I got there. Again... odd. Things went by as normal sort of but I did feel kind of lonely since Jace, Emily, and Abigail weren't here. But when lunch came around, Maribeth actually helped me feel less lonely. She was constantly cuddling up to me and people kept looking at us. Especially boys which made me really uncomfortable. A few minutes later, Maribeth got up and said she had to use the bathroom so I was sitting by myself.

While I was walking to the bathroom, a boy came up to me. He had a mischievous smirk on his lips while he looked me up and down. I just rolled my eyes.

"Hey cutie. What are you doing?"

"Going to the bathroom. Now leave me alone." I tried walking past him but he wouldn't let me.

"Maybe I can go with you." He winked me while biting his lip. Ugh this guy is annoying.

"I have a girlfriend. Now back off." I pushed him away from me and he almost fell to the ground but he regained his balance.

"Is it Jade?" My lips curved into a smirk.

"Why yes it is. Are you jealous?"

"Not even. She's just a little bitch anyways." I slapped him dead in the face and glared at him.

"You have no right to say that! She's beautiful unlike most girls here. So back off you perverted little twerp." I turned around and started to walk off until I noticed Jade standing there. I smiled and walked up to her kissing her lips. I then grabbed her hand entwining our fingers between each other and walked off pulling her with me.
