Chapter 38

(Jace)

Jade and Xavier had the same eyes. Green and red. I didn't want to hurt her but she's under his control and wants to kill me. I need to snap her out of it some how without hurting her and before Xavier attacks me as well. I quickly looked around and noticed that everyone was fighting. Emily and Skylar, Abigail and Brandon I think his name was, Maribeth and my mom, Jason and my dad, and Victoria fighting her dad. This is all too much.

I looked back at Jade and she immediately lunged at me. I quickly moved out of the way but she turned around and tried attacking me again with a dagger. I moved out of the way again. I knew I couldn't do this forever so I have to think of something. And fast. I stood in place and let her run towards me again and before she swung the dagger at me, I quickly grabbed her hand, turned her around and held her arm behind her back. I heard Xavier grunt but ignored it.

"Jade listen to me. You need to break out of this. This isn't the Jade I know or love. Come on." That didn't do anything. She just kept struggling.

"You really think that's gonna work? The only thought in her mind is you being dead and I'm allowing her to make that thought a reality." Xavier had a smirk formed from his lips. I hissed at him and held onto Jade tighter.

"I get it that you want to be strong and all that shit or whatever but going after someone I love? She never had anything to do with this!" I shouted at Xavier.

"Awww you getting mad Jace? I bet Jade can't see what you look like in full rage mode. Why don't we show her?" He slowly walked over towards me and Jade. I backed away but then Jade elbowed me in the stomach and it made me let go of her. She quickly ran to Xavier's side and faced me with an angry expression on her face. I thought of one thing which I have no idea if it'll work or not but I need to try. Even if it means I actually die, at least Jade and her friends will be safe and that's all that matters to me.

"Xavier, just let Jade and her friends go. You can have me." He tilted his head.

"Oh? I'm listening." He wrapped his arm around Jade's waist. I wanted to attack him right there but I can't. I need him to stop controlling her.

"If you let Jade and her friends go, I'll let you kill me and you and Jason can do whatever you want with my powers."

"Jace no!" I heard my mom shout. Me and everyone else looked at my mom. "I am not allowing this. Xavier you will release these girls at once!"

"Ha! Like I'll listen to some old hag like you. Once I have his powers, I'll be the most powerful vampire in existence. Jace is even willing to save his little girlfriend too. Isn't that sweet?" Xavier completely turned his body to face my mom. I clenched my fist and stopped myself from tackling him.

"This is outrageous! I am not letting you kill my son!" My dad shouted. I looked over at him and he looked at me then Jade.

"Dad..." I whispered to myself.

"Shut it old man. You're gonna die in a few years anyway." Jason lifted his leg and kicked my dad to the ground. "Maybe even now." He took the dagger from Abigail's hand and was about to stab my dad until I saw Skylar take Emily's dagger and threw it at Jason's arm that was holding the dagger. He quickly dropped it and held his arm. He turned around and faced Skylar. "You bitch!" He was about to run after her but Victoria tackled him to the ground. I looked at Brandon and suggested an idea to him.
