I walked into the living room and sat in the chair across from Emily and Abigail and I was able to calm down my breathing.
"Sooo, why were you so out of breath?" Emily asked. I was quiet for a bit before answering.
"I freaked out a bit before I got here."
"Explain." Abigail said looking at me a bit confused. I told her about meeting up with Jace and talking to him about what happened to Abigail last night. I also remembered that I didn't tell him why he shouldn't let my family see him when he was waiting for me. I also told them that on my way here, Brandon ran into me and he started walking me here. And then that he asked me how me and Jace ended up in front of his house. I had no idea how to answer that so I ran the rest of the way here. Both of them just stared at me in shock.
"Whoa." They said in unison.
"I know. I don't know what to do now if I see him at school. He'll probably ask me about it again."
"You could try avoiding him." Abigail suggested. That might help.
(Jace)
I decided to stay home and play some video games since Jade left. I was feeling a bit hungry so I turned off my game and went outside. I walked around for a few minutes cause there was almost no one around in my neighborhood. I was able to find a girl with long brown hair walking by herself so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. I went up behind the girl and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and looked at me right in my eyes. Her's were green and it partially reminded me of Jade. I was quiet for a moment.
"Can I help you?" She asked me and I came back to reality.
"Right sorry. Um, I made a bet with my friends saying I could get a cute girl to come back to them with me." I lied. She was quiet for a moment and started to look tense. "It was a stupid bet and nothing weird would happen. My friends just don't think I'm able to talk to girls so I wanted to prove it. That's all" She relaxed a little and smiled at me.
"You think I'm cute?" She asked and I mentally rolled my eyes.
"Yeah. Especially because of your eyes. Green is my favorite color." I gave her a fake smirk. My favorite colors are actually red and black but whatever. Anything that's gonna let me eat.
"Mine is blue but green is a close second." She giggled and I faked laugh. I tried to change the subject.
"So uh, can I take you over there? I really wanna win this bet." I asked and she nodded hooking her arm with mines.
"Definitely." I started walking while her arm was connected to mine. I was planning on taking her into my backyard but while we were walking, I noticed someone walking in the distance. They were looking down but something about them seemed familiar. I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"So what's your name? Mine is Amanda."
"Oh. Uh, Jace."
"Jace Matthews?" She asked. I froze in place looking at her surprised. How the hell does she know my last name? I've never seen her before.
"Y-yeah. How do you know that?"
"I go to the same school as you. But you haven't been going there much lately. Is it because of that Jade girl and her friends you would hang out with?"
"No not at all! It's just some personal issues. I might be going back but I'm not 100% sure." I wasn't exactly lying. I was just being vague.
"Oh okay. Don't get me wrong, Jade and her friends are cool it's just, the people they know are pretty weird. Like Derek, Vanessa, and the new kid Brandon. I'm starting to think he already has a crush on her. It's just a rumor though." I couldn't speak. I wasn't sure what to say. All I wanted to do was keep walking but then the person walking came up to me and Amanda.
"Hello sweetheart. I suggest you start heading home. I need to take my brother home now." It was Xavier. What does this asshole want now?
"Oh. I didn't know you had a brother Jace." Amanda looked at me confused.
"I didn't either." I mumbled to myself.
"What was that?" Xavier looked at me tilting his head slightly and smirked. Fucking prick. I thought to myself.
'Like wise.' I heard a voice in my head. It was Xavier's.
"Oh okay. Well, I'll head home. Make sure to find me at school if you still want to win that bet." Amanda winked at me before walking away. I immediately gave Xavier a death glare and he just laughed.
"You made a bet with someone?" He asked in a mocking tone which was very annoying.
"No you dumbass, I'm hungry."
"Ahh right. You can manipulate people and lie your way in and out of things. Clever boy."
"What do you want? If you're gonna ask where Jade is, I'm not telling you."
"I don't need that information right now. I just came to give you a fair warning."
"Warning for what?" I started getting a bit agitated with this guy and was close to just punching him in the face right here.
"If I were you, I wouldn't want Jade to see me hanging around other girls. I'm sure it would break her little heart."
"The hell are you talking about?" I started to clench my hands tightly.
"Oh nothing important. I just learned a new ability that I have and I'm going to make sure I use it to my advantage." A greenish black smoke started to form around Xavier.
"Xavier!" I shouted but he was gone and his smoke lingered around for a few more seconds and I cursed under my breath. I started walking around again and was able to trick a few people into following me so that I could finally eat. Or drink. However you wanna imagine in. Then I went back home to try and take a nap.
