I texted my mom telling her I went to Emily's and that I'm spending the night there. She hasn't responded though so I'm assuming she's sleeping. Jace stayed also to make sure me, Emily, and Abigail would be okay. And I'm glad he stayed. It honestly made me happy. The next day came and me and Abigail wore some of Emily's clothes. Jace went to his house to change then came back to take us to school. When we got there, I didn't see Maribeth anywhere. Which I'm glad for actually.

Before class started, Derek came up to me. He asked if he could talk to me in private so Emily and Abigail walked away. They were still close by just in case Derek tried anything with me.

"Was that one girl really your girlfriend?" It was a bit hard to read the expression on his face. I don't even know where this conversation is going to lead to.

"It's complicated ok. What did you want?" I crossed my arms and shifted my weight to the right a little.

"Whatever happened to that one kid you always hung out with? Jace was it?" I nodded. "Whatever happened to him?"

"Why do you care?"

"Just wondering. He seemed a bit different from everyone else don't you think?"

"So what? He's my friend." I started getting annoyed with Derek and wanted to slap him across the face but I decided not to.

"You still talk to him? He seemed like a freak honestly." As soon as he said that, I instantly pushed him and he fell to the ground. Other students looked at us but I didn't care.

"No he wasn't. Now you better shut up or I'll beat your ass." Emily and Abigail quickly walked up to us and dragged me away from Derek.

"What just happened?" Abigail asked. She was combing her fingers through my hair which is something she would do to calm me down.

"He was asking about Maribeth and then Jace and said how he was a freak which pissed me off."

"Clearly." Emily was holding my hand also trying to calm me down.

"Okay he needs to stay at least 100 feet away from you because I feel like you're just gonna beat the shit out of him one day." Abigail kept combing her fingers through my hair and I was able to calm down a bit. School hasn't even started yet and I'm already pissed off.

"I can have Jace do that." I tried joking but meh. I wasn't even up for it right now. The rest of the day went by as normal. When it came to lunch though, a boy came up to me, Emily, and Abigail and sat next to me at our table. He had dark brown hair that was in a pompadour kind of style. It wasn't an overly exaggerated pompadour. It was pretty normal. He also had light blue eyes. And you know how I feel about blue eyes. His shoulders were pretty broad as well. He wore a navy blue shirt with a heart with stitches around it in the center. He also wore blue jeans that had a few tears here and there. He did look pretty cute I'm not gonna lie. But I don't trust him.

"Hey. I hope you don't mind me sitting here." I'm honestly getting really uncomfortable with meeting new people.

"Who are you?" Emily asked. It sounded a bit rude but hopefully, she wasn't trying to be. She has that type of aura or whatever it's called.

"The names Brandon. I'm new and you guys seem pretty cool. Plus I saw her push some guy to the floor this morning which was a bit badass." He pointed at me with his thumb. I wasn't sure what to say and then he looked at me. "What was that all about anyway? If you don't mind me asking of course."

"Personal things," Emily answered for me. I sighed in relief.

"Oh ok. Well is it ok if I still sit here? Everyone else was like "get lost" or "go bother someone else" so I came here." Brandon laughed a little but me, Emily, and Abigail stayed silent. "So is it okay?"

"Sure." I finally said and his face lit up.

"Thanks. I'll try not to be such a bother." The rest of the day went on like normal. Brandon didn't have any classes with me so I guess I'll only see him during lunch and possibly afterschool. I waited for Emily and Abigail in front of the school. Apparently, they both needed to work on some missing assignments. While I was waiting, someone hugged me from behind. I turned my head around and saw that it was Jace and I instantly smiled.

"Wasn't expecting to see you here."

"Surprise." He kissed me right after and I kissed him back. But then I felt someone tap my shoulder. I pulled away from Jace and turned around.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt."

"Oh, Brandon. Wh-what's up?"

"Two things really. First thing, I didn't catch your name before lunch ended."

"Jade. What's the second thing."

"Right. Well, I was gonna ask if it was ok if I walked you home but I can see you're occupied so maybe another day." He started walking away and I didn't stop him. I turned around to look at Jace and he was still looking at Brandon.

"Are you okay?"

"I don't trust that guy." He still wasn't looking at me.

"I don't either. He's new and sat with me, Peach, and Daisy during lunch. I don't have any classes with him either." He looked at me and I couldn't help myself and kissed him. And he kissed me back passionately.

"All right lovebirds. Let's get going." We heard Emily's voice call out to us. We pulled away and the four of us walked to my house and hung out there for a few hours. Brandon was brought up a few times but we tried avoiding talking about him. When it got close to nighttime, everyone left and I was actually able to sleep peacefully.
