~Chapter 8: Confession~
Turtlekit was excited. It was becoming very close to the time where she, Falconkit, and Otterkit could become apprentices. This would turn their world upside down, but they were leaping for joy as the days passed until their ceremony.

"Turtlepaw! Turtlepaw! Turtlepaw!" She could practically hear the clan chanting her new name. She sighed, dreamily smiling. "Turtlekit?" Okay, this time that was real. She turned to face Pebblepaw. He smiled goofily at her, blushing. "Look..." he said, "I've got something to tell you." She nodded, padding away with him, not knowing she was never ready for what happened then.

He led her out of camp, towards the lake. He sat down, and she silently at down next to him. "What did you want to tell me?" she asked, facing him. He blushed, and suddenly she knew. "I-I have feelings for you Turtkekit. Is that crazy?" She looked up at him, blushing too. "Sorta." she whispered. "I know we can't be together now, but once you become an apprentice, we can." he continued, edging closer to her. Turtlekit felt uncomfortable. She had never experienced this feeling, the power of love. But she didn't love him. "So the question is Turtkekit...." Pebblepaw whispered, "Do you love me?" Turtlekit looked into his eyes. "I-I just want to be friends." she choked, her heart dropping at her words. She knew she could never be mates with Pebblepaw, it would never work. He sighed. "Okay. I understand." Pebblepaw got up and trudged through the snow, back to camp, leaving Turtlekit out in the cold. She sighed, following him.
