~Chapter 19: A Warning~
Later that night, Turtlepaw settled in her nest, tears staining her cheeks. She sniffed, unable to control the unbearable sadness. Falconpaw and Otterpaw followed her into the apprentice den, their tail dragging in the dirt and their paws heavy. Turtlepaw knew she would see Spottedpelt in Starclan someday, but that day would not be here quickly.

Turtlepaw woke with a start, squinting outside. It was still dark. She decided to go to the dirt place. She shook her pelt out, and heavy heartedly padded out into the camp as quietly as she could. The cold breeze ruffled her pent, attacking her like a enemy clan cat . She blindly made her way to the dirt place, entering it. Once finished, she padded out, and sat down under the stars, looking up. "Father," She whispered, "I never got a chance to tell you I love you." Her eyes broke into tears and she lowered her head, mourning some more. "Pssst!" A cats voice met her ears a few minutes later and her head snapped up. "Over here!" Turtlepaw cautiously padded behind the dirt place, in the direction where the voice had came.

A light carmel colored cat stepped out from the shadows. "Thunderclan cat!" Turtlepaw thought quickly as she smelled the Thuncerclan stench on the she-cat, "It could be a trap!" Turtlepaw unsheathed her claws, growling. "What are you-" "Shhhh!" the cat whispered, looking nervously around, "I come in peace. I swear." Turtlepaw relaxed a bit, but kept her claws unsheathed. The timid cat eyed them nervously and continued, "I am Honeyoaw of Thunderclan. I came here to warm you." "Threaten me?!" "No, warn you." Honeypaw was growing impatient. "You see, Volestar is simply worried. Our clan is not doing well. We need more prey. Volestar is willing to do whatever if takes." She paused, looking around, "He plans to capture Windclans' kits and hold them until he gets a good part of your territory." Turtlepaw's eyes widened. "The monster!" she spat under her breath. Honeypaw nodded absent mindedly and continued, "Part if the clan, like me, says that would be a horrible thing to do. But most of the clan is all for it." "So you warned us." Turtlepaw said, catching on. "Yes. But I have to go before they miss me. Tell Larkstar!" she mewed, talking off across the moors with speed unusual for a Thunderclan cat.

Turtlepaw just sat there for a few moments, soaking it all in. She knew this warning was real, she could tell by the fear in Honeypaw's eyes. Even the best actor could not match it. She sighed, sheathing her claws. Dawn broke across the moor. Turtlepaw silently wished Honeypaw had made it to her camp in time and padded towards Larkstar's den. She stopped outside it. "Larkstar?" she whispered, peering in. "Turtlepaw? Come in." was the reply. Turtlepaw entered her leader's den for the first time.

"You must have a good reason for coming here at such an early time in the morning." Larkstar mewed, getting up from her nest and stretching. Turtlepaw nodded, looking uncomfortably around. "Well, Larkstar, you see..." she started, looking down at her paws but could feel Larkstar's gaze burning into her pelt, "Last night a Thunderclan apprentice came to our camp." She looked up to see Larkstar's expression grow more serious. "And?" "She warned us." Turtlepaw repeated all that Honeypaw had said to Larkstar. When finished, Larkstar stood up. "I will arange a meeting with my senior warriors." she said dully, "You are dimissed."
