Krystel

I woke up to my phone going off, sighing, I reluctantly answered it.

{Krystel what's happening, are you meeting us for lunch or not?}

{aw sorry Justin, I've just woken up. I'll see you guys tommorow though yeah?} I said trying to keep my eyes open.

{ok no probs, see you tommorow lazy}

{bye}

I got up and went for a shower and got ready before going downstairs. I sent Sheryl a quick text to wish her good luck. She was going to finish things with Shane today. I made myself some toast and watched TV.

"Afternoon, have you decided to join us then?"

"Oh mum, don't exaggerate. It's not that late," I said still watching TV.

"Do you fancy spending the afternoon with your old mother?" she said sitting on the arm of the chair.

"Doing what? And where's dad?" I asked.

"He's upstairs but he is going to play golf with friends today. I thought we could go shopping and have a bit of lunch."

"Hmm ok, I suppose so," I said smiling.

"Don't get cheeky! Well, I'm ready when you are."

"Okay, I'm just gonna put some make up on. Give me twenty minutes," I said getting up.

"Okay darling," she smiled. I got up and went to get ready.

"Okay mum, I'm ready." We said goodbye to my dad and left. I really wanted to get a job because there was always stuff I wanted to buy, plus I wanted to treat my mum to lunch and buy her little presents. We had a look around a few shops. Mum bought me a couple of tops and some underwear and some bits for herself. She bought dad a new tie. He had about a million ties. She never knew what to buy him so always came back with a different tie for him.

"I don't know about you but I'm starving, let's go get some lunch." We headed to the nearest restaurant and ordered some lunch.

"So, how's school and stuff?" mum asked sipping her drink.

"It's good. I really want a job though to make some money."

"Funny that you would say that, Susan said they were looking for someone to work part time at the shop. I can ask her to put in a good word for you."

I smiled, "That would be great if you could please, mum."

Susan worked in a clothes shop. She wasn't the boss but she was the manager so I was hopeful.

"I'll speak to her tommorow, and what about your friend Sheryl, how is she?"

"She's okay and she will split up with her boyfriend today so I hope she's okay."

I told my mum everything. I always did.

"Are they not getting along anymore then?" she asked curiously.

"Well, I think he's been trying to pressure her into sleeping together and she won't have it." My mum smiled.

"She's such a lovely girl, I'm glad she's being sensible. Much better than the other two anyway." I nodded, agreeing with her. We finished lunch and headed home. Dad wouldnt be home until after 7. He normally came back a bit tipsy after golf. He was funny though. Mum and I watched a movie on the couch until we were interrupted by the phone. It was mum friend Karen. I knew they'd be on the phone for ages, they sure as hell could talk! I got up and went to get my stuff ready for the next day.

After dinner I went for a long bath. I could have honestly laid in the bath all day if it had stayed warm. I decided an hour was long enough though and got out. I put some comfy pajamas on and checked my phone. I thought Sheryl would have texted back. As I saw that there wasn't a new message I decided to call her. It rang for a bit then she finally answered.

{Hey Krys} she said quietly.

{Hi, I just called to check you were okay. Did you get my text?} I asked.

{Yeah, I received it. Sorry, I meant to text you back.} She sounded a bit sad, not herself.

{Are you okay, Sheryl?}

{Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired.}

{How did it go with Shane?}

{It went great! He went mental and called me every name under the sun}

{What an idiot! Don't let it upset you, you can do so much better than him}

{Yeah, I suppose. Look, I'm quite tired but I'll see you tommorow, okay?} I could tell she wasn't in the mood for talking anyway.

{Okay, I'll see you in the morning. Sweet dreams}

{Sweet dreams, babe} she hung up. That was the first time I'd heard Sheryl like that. She was always happy and smiling. I didn't like hearing her upset. I went to say goodnight to mum and dad and went to bed.

The next day I arrived at school just in time for class. Justin immediately started to fill me in on his weekend. He did like to talk about that boy. I didn't see Sheryl until lunch time, she was outside sitting on her own. I went to get a drink for us both and went to talk to her.

"Hey, I got you drink," I said sitting down beside her. She smiled at me.

"Thanks. Are you ok?" she asked opening the drink.

"I'm good, it's you I'm worried about."

"Oh I'm fine, don't worry about me. I was just really tired last night." she didn't sound very convincing.

"Well, if you wanna talk to me I'm here for you."

"I know you are, thanks. But I'm fine. So what did you get upto yesterday?" she said changing the subject.

"I went shopping and had lunch with mum. It was fun. Oh and I've got an interview for a job tonight."

She smiled, it was nice to see her smile. "That's great babe, where is it for?"

"A clothes shop, part time. Hope I get it."

"I'm sure you will."

We talked for a bit before heading back to class. I knew she was still upset but I didn't want to push her. I was hoping she'd be alright in a few days.
