Sheryl

My first week had passed already. It was now Friday night and I was spending it alone as usual. Dad was supposed to be home but he had to cover for somebody at the last minute. So my week so far had been alright, I suppose. Angela gave me dirty looks everytime I passed her, which was funny and I spoke a bit to Krystel's two friends Justin and Joey. They seemed really nice and apologised for not saying anything in the cafeteria that day. I had seen Krystel a few times but she only said hi. Maybe she didn't like me after all. I got home and made myself a pizza. I wasn't a great cook but I could cope on my own. I just wanted to relax so I took a long hot bath after dinner, then logged on Facebook. I'd been so busy with school work all week that I didn't check it. My god, that must be a record for me. One friend request from Krystel Denver... Hmm, she doesn't hate me then. I clicked on the picture it was her with a massive Pepsi cup and 3D glasses on posing. She looked cute. I accepted her and sent her a message.

{Hi, thanks for adding me, and here I was, thinking u didn't like me :) xx}

I switched the TV on in the background, it was nice to have some background noise.

{Hey, haha. I do like u, just thought you ignored my request so was a bit embarrassed xx}

I laughed to myself a little.

{Aww that's cute :p I haven't been on all week. So what you doing in on a Friday night?xx} I typed back.

{Well, Paige and Angela have ditched me once again so I'm just feeling sorry for myself , what about u?xx}

{I think you're forgetting I have no friends haha!! You don't need friends like them in your life. Hey, do you fancy coming round tommorow? We can have a movie marathon with loads of junk foodxx}

{Yeah sounds fun, what time?xx}

I smiled to myself.

{I will pick u up at 1?xx}

{Okay, see you then xx}

Oh my god, I'm actually gonna socialise with someone out of school. It had been so long, well it felt like it, anyway. I came off the laptop after that and watched a film on the couch. I must have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes some black and white movie was on and it was 2.45am. Switching the TV off, I got up and crawled into bed.

The rain woke me up that morning about 11.30. I quickly got showered and chose something to wear. I decided on skinny jeans, a red vest top and just threw my favourite old white hoody on over it. I tied my hair up loosely and pulled on my boots. Nothing like making an effort, hey. Well, this is just a comfort day so I'm not too fussed. I didn't even bother with the make up. It's not like I'm trying to impress anybody anyway is it? I set off to pick Krystel up. Waiting in her drive, I saw her talking to a woman, must of been her mum. The woman gave her a kiss goodbye, then looked over and waved at me. I waved back feeling a little jealous inside. She obviously has a great relationship with her mum. She looked nice as usual, her hair was always so nice, I wish mine was like that. Then I remembered the state of mine and became a little embarassed.

"Hey Sheryl! You okay?" she asked cheerily getting in the car.

"Yeah, you?"

She smiled at me. "I'm great thanks."

I turned the music on and we headed back to mine.

"Sorry about the state of me, I was thinking more comfort today."

She looked me up and down and I swear I got a weird feeling in my tummy. "Are you kidding me? You look gorgeous. I envy you. You don't even have to try, do you?"

"Oh shut up, you clearly need glasses, darling."

She laughed quietly. It didn't take long to get to mine and we ran inside quickly before the rain got heavier.

"Is your dad in?" She asked looking around.

"No, he will be back on Tuesday though. Come through to the kitchen."

She followed me through, "Nice place, do you not get lonely?"

I opened the cupboard and fridge, we got some snacks and stuff and went through to the living room. "Suppose I do sometimes but I'm used to it now."

"Uh, I didn't know what we were gonna watch so I brought a few with me if you wanna have a look," Krystel said laying them on the coffee table.

"Sure, what's your favourite? Please don't say war films or something like that because I'll just fall asleep."

Krystel laughed, "You're in luck! Do you like horror films? Freddy boxset?"

"Yeah sounds good, you might need to hold my hand though if I get scared."

Krystel smiled and blushed a little. "Are you blushing Krystel?" I laughed.

She threw a cushion at me, "Shut up and put the film on, idiot."

"Yes boss," I laughed. Shutting the blinds, i put the film on. We sat on opposite ends of the sofa, it wasn't that big so there wasn't much space inbetween. I put the blanket over us and we started watching the film. I jumped at one bit and made this weird noise, which Krystel found hilarious. She couldn't stop laughing, and when she kept laughing I started, too.

"I'm glad you're not a bitch like your friends," I said. She looked over then put one of her legs over mine.

"Oh make yourself comfortable eh?" I smiled at her.

"I will thanks."

"Cheeky!"

She thought for a minute then said, "If there's one thing I can't stand it's bitchy people. People who bully. Paige was my best friend for 5 years, we've always been so close but she's now started avoiding me to hang out with Angela, she's being nasty along with her and I never thought I'd see that side of Paige."

"I can't stand people like that either. Maybe Paige is scared Angela will turn on her? She should still put your friendship first though, she obviously wasn't much of a friend, babe."

I could see the hurt in Krystel's eyes as I said that. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that to sound horrible"

"It's fine, I'm sure I'll get over it," she sighed.

"Oh you'll get over it...I just know it," I grinned at her.

"Well, I guess this makes us friends now?" She asked raising one eyebrow, which I found to be really cute.

"Only if you actually talk to me in school," I answered.

She laughed, "Of course I will."

It was the perfect lazy day. Eating crap and being slobs in front of the tv. You couldn't beat it, especially on days like this. Krystel and I swapped numbers and I dropped her back home about 11.30pm. I eventually crawled into bed about half 12. My phone lit up, it was a text

{Hey Sheryl, had a great day :) glad I've made a new friend. Sweet dreams xx}

The text made me smile. I texted her back.

{I'm glad too. Get some sleep babe xx} And fell asleep straight after.
