Chapter Twenty-Four

Katniss POV- (That night)

I walk to the bathroom and someone grabs me.

I gasp and then I see it's only Annie.

"You scared me to death." I say, my heart racing.

"Can you come here for a minute?" Annie asks me.

I sigh, "I guess so. Why?"

"Come on." She says and pulls me into a room with her.

Glimmer, Johanna, Clove and Madge are all inside too.

I look at the ground, wondering what this is about.

"Yes?" I ask them.

"Katniss?" Johanna says rudely.

"What?" I ask her sternly.

I like Johanna but she's so rude sometimes and she's treated me the worst since this all started.

"I'm really sorry about how I've treated you lately." She says, her voice softening.

I glance at Annie and she's nodding at Johanna to go on.

Johanna rolls her eyes, "And I shouldn't have been such a bitch to you the other day and for sure not to Peeta."

All the girls kind of nod.

"I'm not gonna lie, I don't know what their sorry excuses are but for me, you're just really fun to pick on."

"Um, thanks for the apology..." I say, confused as to if it what was nice was actually sincere or not.

Probably not coming from her but I will accept it, even if I don't believe it.

"We've all been jerks lately and we are really really sorry, Katniss." Annie says and I know coming from her that she means it.

I swallow hard, "It's okay, you were just too caught up to notice. I know that besides Johanna, you didn't do anything on purpose."

"I'm not gonna lie, I did." Johanna adds in.

"Jo!" Glimmer glares at her.

Clove gives Johanna a nudge, "Can't you be nice even if you're faking?"

"No and I'm not gonna lie to Katniss. She knows." Johanna says.

I roll my eyes.

"Anyways, Katniss, we are all very sorry for everything. We didn't mean to hurt you and we could tell you've been kind of down but we genuinely didn't know it was because of us." Madge says and they agree.

"Again, I knew it was because of us but I figured Katniss would just get over it. I didn't realize she wouldn't want to be our friend anymore." Johanna says.

I sigh, "It's really fine guys. I understand that things come up." I say, just wanting to get out of here already.

Tonight hasn't been too bad but I have barley said anything to anyone but Peeta.

"No, it's not. Just because we all have boyfriends and you don't, that doesn't mean that we should've treated you badly." Glimmer says and she means well I know but still.

I look down, rolling my eyes.

Peeta and I agreed not to tell anyone about us for at least a few weeks.

"It is really fine, guys." I say.

"No, we are really sorry. You're always there for us and we are never there for you. We are sorry that we haven't talked to you lately, we just thought you were really mad at us."
