Peeta POV- (That same day)
"Peeta, I know you are going through a tough time right now. I honestly would do exactly what your doing right now if Annie and I broke up." Finnick tells me.
I raise my eyebrows slightly, "And what is that?" I ask him.
I don't even wanna be here with him but he is making me.
"I would stop living." Finnick says sadly.
"Finnick, I am living."
Why can't he just leave me alone to be sad by myself?
"Obviously, smart ass. I meant that you're basically not living anymore, Peeta. You don't drink or eat anything and you don't go out and do things anymore. All you do is stay home and sleep and cry all day long. You're not doing good in school either, huh?" Finnick shoots back.
I don't say anything because I know it's true.
I haven't been living.
But what is life without Katniss?
Life isn't worth living without her.
"Now do you think Katniss would want you doing this to yourself?"
I shake my head 'no.'
"Exactly and she is the same damn way you are. She has stopped living, Peeta. You don't want her doing that to herself, do you?"
"Not at all." I reply.
I don't want Katniss to be hurting.
"Then you need to get your shit together. She doesn't want you hurting either. We know that much. I know it's hard to focus in class but you have to." He says shoving a cup of water into my hands and a plate of food his mother made us.
I'm not really hungry but I do as Finnick says and eat and I even finish the glass of water, just because.
I know that he is right.
I need to eat and stay hydrated because if I don't that won't be good at all.
I know that I am depressed and by the sound of it, Katniss is too.
"Why did you even break up?" Finnick asks after awhile.
I stay silent and then speak up, "We can't agree on what to do about college and she was acting like she doesn't even want to get back together." I say, looking at my feet and realizing how pathetic we both are.
"Peeta, that's not a good enough reason for you two to break up. And she does want you back." Finnick sighs.
"It's crazy. When this all started, I raised my voice and actually threw a letter at her. I don't know what happened. It was like this whole different person came out and I scared her, I could see it. But I just want her to be happy. And she thinks I wouldn't be happy if I didn't go to college." I explain.
This is the most I have talked in forever.
He exhales heavily, "I don't know what to say to that."
I shrug my shoulders, "Me either, I guess that is why we broke up."
"Huh?"
"I guess we broke up because we couldn't agree."
"In relationships, if there is anything I've learned is that you have to agree to disagree. I know it's hard but it has to be done in order for the relationship to work out. If you have different opinions on something, just agree that you disagree." Mrs. Odair says as she merges from the kitchen.
