Katniss POV- (Graduation After Party)
"Want to dance, Katniss?" Peeta asks nervously, holding his hand out to me.
Everyone else is dancing so why not?
"Of course." I smile and take his hand.
He leads me to a crowded dance floor and holds one hand while placing the other on my waist.
I place my left hand on his shoulder and we begin to shuffle our feet along the floor in a two step.
I look into his deep ocean blue eyes that can see right through me and it's as if everyone else in the room vanishes.
It's just me and Peeta.
He gives me a smile and I return it.
Before I can blink an eye, the song is over.
He carefully spins me around before letting go and I bow teasingly and he does too.
I take his hand again and we walk over to Cato and Clove.
"Hey guys!" Peeta smiles at them.
"Hey, love birdies." Clove smiles.
"You two having fun?" Cato raises his eyebrows up and down at us playfully.
"As a matter of fact, we are. How about you two?" I laugh.
"Yes. Tonight has been amazing." Clove says, kissing Cato's cheek.
Cato sits down and Peeta and I do too.
I lean my head on Peeta's shoulder as he and Cato chat a little longer and Clove goes off with some other girls.
Before I know it, I am asleep on Peeta's shoulder.
"Katniss? The party is over. Want me to take you home now?" I wake to Peeta's soft voice.
We are still sitting in the plastic school chairs and nearly everyone is gone.
"Oh, Peeta. I'm so sorry that I fell asleep. You should've woke me up hours ago." I apologize frantically.
"That's okay. Are you ready for me to take you home?" He asks me, laughing.
"Yeah." I say with a yawn.
"Okay, let's go." He says and stands up.
He scoops me up in his arms and walks us out.
"Peeta, I can walk."
"I know." He smirks.
He finds his car and places me in the front seat and straps my seatbelt, "Thank you for tonight." I say, half asleep.
"I had a lot of fun." Peeta tells me, patting my knee as he drives me home.
Peeta POV-
"Hey, Katniss? I was thinking and what if tomorrow we...um, maybe go look for an apartment together?" I blurt out but it's no use.
She fell asleep again.
I decide I will just wait a bit longer even though I don't want to.
I'm so anxious to start our new life together.
A life were we can do what we want, an adult life.
I want my life with Katniss to start now but I know I will just have to be patient a little longer, I guess.
We just graduated so waiting a little longer is probably better for us both anyways.
I arrive at her house and carry her sleeping body all the way up stairs and into her room.
I remove her high heels and place some socks on her feet.
I place her into her bed for the night, cornering her up with the comforter and brushing her hair back out of her face.
I press a kiss to her forehead, "I love you, Katniss, so so much." I tell her, even though I know she doesn't hear me.
I carefully get up and quietly leave, closing her bedroom door.
I sneak back down the stairs and out of her house.
A few minutes later, I get to my house.
I change and get into bed. I lay flat on my back just thinking about my new life and the things to come.
I am no longer a high school kid.
I am no longer a child.
I am an adult and I make my own decisions.
I can do what I want and I don't have to live under my parents roof for much longer and I am relieved.
My mom didn't even come to my graduation tonight, which was fine with me but still, she should've been there.
If I don't want to, I never have to see my mother again.
Finally, a life where it can just be Katniss and I forever.
I fall asleep thinking of her.
I fall sleep with a huge smile on my face.
