Chapter 4
SOHPIES POV:
“Oh, are you serious?” Niall asked me.
“Completely.” I answered him.
I had just told him about what my parents wanted me to do. I wasn’t able to tell whether he was happy about it or on my side. My side was disagreeing with the whole idea.
No, I didn’t want to marry a complete stranger. But the problem was that I would look selfish if I declined this. It was for my home country’s safety and my own. It really wasn’t fair that all of this pressure was put on me. I haven’t even graduated high school and one decision could change the way a whole country looked at me.
Niall and I were standing together in front of our lockers during lunch time. They were so dull and boring. Just a plain cream colour and we had our own locks on them. Coincidently our lockers were right next to each other. So as we spoke, I was placing books in and out of my bag.
“Well…” he hesitated, “what are you going to do?”
“I’m not sure yet.” I truthfully told him as I put a book in my locker.
“What do you want to do?” he stopped what he was doing and looked at me.
“I don’t know! I don’t want to marry a stranger…” I stressed to him and ran my fingers through my hair.
I decided not to tell Niall about the chance of me moving back to England soon. Not even I knew half the details. No way would I be ready to tell him or anyone else for that matter.
Suddenly I heard my message tone go off.
“One sec.” I said to him and reached for my phone from the pocket of my skirt.
To be honest, I didn’t mind my school uniform. It was a dark aqua skirt which stopped just above my knees. Our shirt was a white button up with a collar. We also wore white socks that were pulled about a quarter up our shins. And like every other school with a uniform, we wore black lace up shoes. But since teachers didn’t care about the kind of shoes we wore, I wore black flats with a buckle.
As I lifted up my phone and unlocked it, I saw that Jane had sent me a message with the subject as: ‘Still disagreeing with your parents?’ The crazy part, she had put a winky face at the end of the text. What’s that supposed to mean?
I opened up the text and saw a photo had been sent through. Scanning my phone screen, I saw what she was talking about.
“Whoa.” I said aloud.
“What is it?” Niall raised his eyebrows and moved alongside of me. He mumbled something under his breath, but I didn’t hear it. Instead, I was busy focusing on the picture Jane had just sent me.
It was a picture of a guy. He looked around the same age as me, maybe a year older. His hair was jet black and put into a neat quiff. His eyes were a strong brown and let me tell you now, he was flawless. I was guessing this was Zayn, the boy who my parents were telling me about.
“Is that Zayn Malik?” Niall looked up from the picture to me.
“He’s wearing a fancy outfit. So it must be.” I answered him.
I was going to marry him? Maybe this wasn’t going to be so bad after all! Wait, what was I saying? I don’t even know him. He could be the most stuck up prince for all I know. He might run butlers to his side every minute of the day. I definitely wasn’t looking for someone like that.
