Chapter 5
SOPHIES POV:
I was dreading going back home. I didn’t know whether more news would be thrown upon me or not. But on the other hand, I didn’t want to go to school either. I had avoided Harry for the rest of the day and it was quite hard. Soon I’d have to talk with him and face him. Why couldn’t I bring myself to say no?
I definitely didn’t want to become one of those girls who believe they could change a guy. But maybe he can change. He was sorry, right? Oh, I don’t know anymore.
I got up to the doorstep of our double storey house. It was covered in different coloured shades of orangey-red bricks. The roof was light black and simple. Just a regular house in a suburb of Sydney. I turned my key and entered the house.
“Hey Sophie!” I heard Jane call when I entered the house.
“Hey Jane.” I greeted her back. She was leaning against the counter in the kitchen waiting for me.
Out of all the rooms in the house, I liked our kitchen the most. No, not just because there’s food in there—that’s just a bonus! It was because the whole room was so modern. The walls were a simple, light, modern brown. The bench tops were marble and the cupboards were white. There were so many decorative aspects. Photos of our “family” were stuck all across the fridge, flowers were on the bench, table mats in the centre of our dinner table and anything else that could possibly make this a family orientated home.
“So I have more news. You saw that pic of Zayn I sent you?” she enthusiastically asked. More news? Are you kidding me?
“Seriously?” I questioned her. Instead of dwelling on the news, I continued, “I did. He’s flawless.” I poured out.
“Well during the day I spoke with your parents again,” she started, “and Zayn’s parents making him move down here and see how you two would work as a couple. If you get along or not. Thoughts?” She asked.
What?
“Hm, my thoughts.” I said aloud. I didn’t know what to think! If he came, this could mess up my whole secret identity. What if people were to connect the dots that he was a prince, and that maybe I had some relation to the king and queen of England? “What if people were to find out about me?” I asked her.
“Well, we were thinking of saying Zayn is exchanging schools for the time being to have a look around Australia. He could just befriend you and that way you two can hang out.” She explained.
That seemed fine with me. But I didn’t know if I was ready for this. I’d need time to prepare. Time to get everything else in my life sorted out before he just came and flipped everything upside down. My top priority, talking with Harry.
“Okay.” I said, “When will he be coming?”
She looked down at the ground and shifted her feet uncomfortably. What did she need to tell me?
“Um.” She pressed her lips together in a pitiful way, “Your parents were saying that this was to begin ‘effective immediately’. And well, I’m pretty sure that means right away. Also meaning… he’s on a flight to Australia as we speak.”
“What?!” I freaked. “Tomorrow?!” I couldn’t help feel my eyes popping out of my head.
I didn’t have time for this. I have my own problems to sort out. And on top of that, my room isn’t even clean!
“Will he be staying with us?” I asked her.
“No, he won’t. They’ve arranged for him to be staying with another local family. Does that give you peace in mind?” She asked.
