Chapter 19

SOPHIE'S POV:

The week had gone by so quickly. Well, during the week it seemed like earth couldn't go any slower, but since it was finally the weekend, I took advantage of all my free time. Niall tried to speak to me a few times at school; he even waited in his car outside my house to pick me up one morning. But I walked straight past it and to the bus stop.

I didn't feel the need to give him a chance just yet. I didn't feel like confronting him or being confronted in return. I just wanted to get through these next few days on my own. Maybe by the weekend I'll get over it. I always seemed to give in so easily to everything.

It was about five in the afternoon on Saturday when I felt like going for a walk. My ankle was feeling so much better and I only had a small bandage around it. I left the house by just yelling bye to anyone, if they even cared and started walking. It wasn't very long until I saw a girl on the opposite side of the road.

She had long straight black hair and olive skin. Needless to say, she was gorgeous. I went to continue walking when I took one last look at her face and noticed how sad she looked. She wiped a tear away from under her eye and sniffed. The street was quite silent so I was able to hear her from my side of the road.

I felt sympathetic and didn't think I was doing any good by standing here and watching, so I made my way across the road and right up to her. Her eyes weren't very red, but she still looked sad enough. I tapped her on the shoulder and she glanced up at me.

"Are you okay?" I genuinely asked her. Her dark brown eyes looked up and were fixed on mine. She tried to crack a smile and brush it off, but instead, shook her head and broke into tears again. "What's wrong?"

"My dog..." Her voice cracked, "I can't find her." She had a pitchy voice as she quivered and took a breath. "I was taking her for a walk and I lost grip of the leash and she got away."

"Oh no," I cried out, "I could help you look for her?" I suggested. I felt bad for her. I never had a pet growing up, but it was common knowledge that these things were hard. Besides, I had plenty of time on my hands.

"Really?" She asked. A thankful smile spread across her face as she completely wiped her tears away. She adjusted the large, light blue material handbag hanging off her shoulder so that it sat perfectly.

"Of course. What's your dog's name?"

"Fluffy." She laughed, "Very cliché, I know."

I laughed, "Well my name is Sophie. What's yours?"

"Lerie." She smiled and we shook hands. Lerie seemed like a nice girl. She was kind and easy going. Though I'd never seen her around our area at all and our area wasn't very big either. I decided not to think much about it. I'm sure she had other reasons to be walking her dog in our estate.

"Lerie? That's... Different." I pointed out - not in a rude manner though.

"Yeah, it's foreign." She smiled. I nodded and we both started to walk around looking for her dog. Even though I had no clue as to what this dog looked like, we both called out 'fluffy' and started a little conversation of our own.

I noticed that the sun was still shining brightly in the sky. The sky was a light baby blue and the air was a little warm. I didn't have my phone on me since I'd only planned on going for a short walk. But hopefully we find Fluffy soon.

"Fluffy!" She cupped her hands around her mouth and called out. There was no one outside, and since it was a Saturday afternoon, I assumed that many people would be out. I whistled aloud in hope that it would attract her dog, but it didn't. Since this was getting us nowhere, I started talking.
