"Sir. Anak mo?? Hala ang cute!" Tanong ng receptionist. Karga karga ko sa braso ko yung batang nanghinging tulong samin kanina na hanapin ang Mommy niya.
"Mini version mo, Sir." Ngiti ng isa pang babae sa amin. Natawa si Emily at Marcus sa gilid ko.
"May prayer meeting sila e." The two giggled. Tinignan ko ng masama ang dalawa kong pinsan while the kid was busy scooping his jellyace na bigay ni Emily.
"No, he's not my kid." Sagot ko.
"Ah, ganon ba Sir.. Sorry. Kamukha niyo po kasi e."
"Pa-page naman na may bata in his barong about 3yrs or 4yrs old lost." Ani ko.
"Okay, Sir. May we know his name?"
"What's your name?" I turned to the kid.
"My name is Chris Eisen... Huh! A koala bear!!!" Sabi nya na subo pa ang miniplastic spoon sabay turo sa display na koala sa gilid.
Hindi nya na sinabi ang apelyido nya he must not know it yet.
"Please, page twice every five minutes. Ipa page nyo rin sa beachside. Give the hotel room pag may lumapit ipapaconfirm natin sa bata"
"Okay, Sir."
"Haaa. Another Koala bear. With the brachiosaurus!!!" He pointed again.
Parepareho kaming namangha.
"Wow specific. Hindi man lang dinosaur, brachiosaurus talaga." Ani Marcus.
"This kid must have some smart genes." Agreed Emily.
Tinuturo niya pa rin ang koala kaya lumapit kami ron.
He pat the koala bear's head
"Don't be scared koala bear! Brachiosaurus are herbivores!" Nalaglag ang mga panga namin.
"Mister..." He turned to me.
"Yes?"
Bumulong siya sa tenga ko.
"What if the Brachiosaurus eats all the plants. The Koala will get hungry??"
Natawa ako.
"I will tell the receptionists to save some for the Koala." I smiled.
"God. He's got a brain bigger than Lance." We all laughed sa sinabing iyon ni Emily.
"Hoy, andito lang ako." Si Lance at Khen iyon na nasa likod na pala namin.
Naisipan nilang hanapin si Emily dahil baka raw mag recruit na sa Atheism iyon.
We all laughed.
Naglakad na kami papunta sa hallway nang biglang umiyak muli ang bata.
"Waaah!"
"WHY???" I almost panicked.
Tinuro niya yung dinosaur sa gilid.
"Bakit kanina may dinosaur naman sa reception hindi ka umiyak." Ani Lance
"That one's carnivorous!! It's going to eat our flesh!!!" He cried.
Our jaw dropped.
"Did a 4 year old had just given us a science lecture?" Khen asked in awe.
"He's right. Brachiosaurus are herbivores." Emily is looking at her smartphone.
"Don't worry. It's just a display. It's not alive." Khen said to the kid.
"It won't eat us?" He wiped his tears.
Fuck!! He is so cute!!! Napangiti ako habang tinititigan siya at sinusuring maigi kung nilolokolang siya ni Khen.
"No. Dinosaurs are dead and extinct for so many years."
"Is it true?" Ayaw nya talagang maniwala. I smiled.
Lance orchestrated us to say Yes in Unison. 1..2..3... He gestured silently. Sira talaga.
"Yes!" We all said. May pa bow pa kaming lahat na nalalaman. The kid laughed.
"I thought Mommy only said that so I wouldn't be scared. I should have believed her." He chuckled again and covered his mouth to stifle his laugh.
"Aaaaah ang cuuute."
"Mas magaling pa siya'ng mag English sa mga interns ko." Khen said in awe. Natawa kami.
"Where's your Daddy?" Hindi ko napigilang magtanong. All he talked about is his Mom.
"I don't know. Mommy said he rode a plane and got lost. Maybe he's dead." Habang umiiscoop ng jellyace nya ulit. He said that in a matter of factly tone.
"Alam mo ba ang meaning ng dead? Parang okay lang sayo a." Lance.
I rolled my eyes at Lance.
"Makipag usap ka nga ng maayos sa bata." Suway ko
"Okay okay!!" Lance said. "So now, if Daddy is dead, it means he is in heaven and he will meet your great great grandparents there, right?" In a Barney kind of tone. Sabay sabay kaming napa irap kay Lance.
"Stop corrupting the kid's mind!" Suway ni Marcus.
The kid lifted his chin with wide eyes and looked at all of us.
"If my Daddy is dead his atoms will be dispersed in the universe together and will become mass slash energy in the solar system. Not in heaven." Sabay subo ng jellyace ulit.
Our jaws dropped again. "Oh my.... I LOVE YOU! MORE LOGICAL THAN THIS FOUR IDIOTS!" She laughed.
We all tried not to squeeze this little girl dahil may kakampi siyang adorable na bata.
Napahilamos na lang ng mukha si Khen at si Lance.
"Atheist in the making rin 'to." Bulong ni Lance referring to the kid.
"Pfff!!!" Tinakpan ni Marcus ang bibig niya.
Pare pareho na naming kinakagat ang mga labi namin para magpigil ng tawa dahil na ungkat na anaman ang Atheism na yan.
"LET'S NOT EVEN GO THERE! HMP!" Bumaling nalang muli si Emily sa bata."Hihintayin na lang kitang tumanda. Ikaw na lang sana ang the one."
"Craddle snatcher mo naman." Ani Khen.
"Cougar." Ani Marcus.
"PEDOPHILE." Lance
Emily glared at me. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Bakit hindi? We need more smart men in our family." Pangungunsinti ko.
"Oh come on!" The three guys exclaimed dahil kinampihan ko si Emily.
We all laughed as the kid laughed with us too kahit hindi nya naman naintidihan.
