Magic
Five Sune Cycles Later
The past several sune cycles had been crazy. To put it in short, they had learned echo language the next day, and learned what the creature was. It was an ophoris, and its name was Masoom, a male. Once he finally got to know the group more personally now that the language barrier had been broken, he seemed reluctant to give certain information. For example, what Jasar and his friends had been chosen for. Ability energy seemed to simply be gained through rest, and that one could run out of it in a single day. The wings on the ophoris' back seemed to heal quickly, Masoom simply said it was because he had been ability healed in the past, whatever that meant. Maybe he would soon be able to leave and head back to his home, a floating island in the sky above the village. Hopefully not before he told them what they were chosen for. People had come to know about Masoom after the battle he had with what he called a 'flabir'. With the inhabitants somehow knowing that Jasar and his friends could speak to the ophoris, they started bombarding them with questions. Though lately they have been able to get... at least some peace and quiet.
Jasar yawned and sat up, flicking his ears at the sound of knocking at his bedroom door. Rubbing his eyes sleepily, he mumbled something and swung his legs over the edge of his bed. Standing and stretching, he groaned before heading off toward the door, small knocks escaping it once again. Opening the door, he looked down, seeing his sister looking up at him with her usual, bright eyes. Letting out a small growl, the light gray male shook himself awake before looking at the small female.
"What do you need, Gess?"
"Someone's knocking at the door," she mewed simply, not taking her gaze off her brother.
Rolling his blue eyes, the tom motioned his sister to move and stepped out of his bedroom. He then headed down the hall toward the stairs, the young calico following close behind him. As his paws hit the wooden floor, he headed down the stairs and stopped just before them.
Stopping, he looks back at his sister, a raised eyebrow being slightly narrowed.
"Did you perhaps open the door at all?" He asked.
The kitten shook her head no, making the male let out a growl of annoyance.
"They've probably left by now, whoever it- "
The male was quickly cut off as an impatient knock emitted from the door. Squinting at the dark door in confusion, he walked over toward it, closing an eye and peeking through the foggy peephole. Seeing a dark figure, he quickly twisted the handle and opened the door to Xengu standing there. She had been staring at the ground and flinched when it opened, gazing at Jasar with wide eyes.
"Jasar!" She greeted, bowing slightly, "Sorry if I've disturbed you or Ms. Auffy or Gess from your sleep."
With a blank gaze, the light gray cat stared at the panther, his young sister peeking from behind him.
"Xengu, honestly, it's probably around 9 o'clock, there's no need to apologize for that," the male purred simply.
Jerking her body up, the winged female widened her eyes before softening them slightly.
"So, what is it that you need me for?"
"Nothing much, I just wanted to see if we could find Masoom and ask him more about 'abilities' or whatever. Plus, I also kinda want to figure out how to control these things," the purple marked female replied, looking at one of her wings, unfolding and lifting it in sync.
With a small nod, the male had to agree with her. What made him and his friends so special to deserve something that isn't supposed to exist? Feeling his sister leave his side, he looked behind him to see his mother standing there a little awkwardly.
