Reckless Escape
One Ninth Sune Later
A loud roar boomed through the volcano, making the felines yowl wildly and scramble to their paws. They looked around wildly and watched as the veil dissipated from the entrance. Quickly the group whipped around to look at each other before making a mad dash to the exit.
"Oh no you don't!" Latif yelled, trying to tackle down Marsh.
The older brother, in a rush of adrenaline, quickly picked up his blind brother and quickly continued after the others. Looking out to the edge quietly, they found that the two guards had disappeared. Maybe that was what had broken the spell for the veil. Not wanting to waste their chances, the felines continued down the tunnel out into the open. They were lucky they were so far out close to the outside.
Xengu panted as she looked around to the sky and flattened her ears against her head. There were flabirs and ophoree flying around in the air, swarming and darkening the blue sky. A shrill gasp came from Favi and she stumbled back into the winged panther, who grunted and looked up. Right in front of her eyes, she watched as a red spirit appeared before them.
Her eyes were wide as she stared at the ophoris before rearing away and snarling as it neared its head to her.
"We're going to need you to show us the full of your strength, Xengu," she rumbled.
"Who are you?!" Xengu roared.
"Sidero! She was the one who warned me about Blackwood!" Favi quickly explained.
The others turned to the winter lynx with horrified stares before watching as Sidero roared into the sky, then started picking them up one by one. Stopping at Marsh and Latif, she squinted her eyes at the blind lynx cub before picking up Marsh and setting them both down on her back.
"Are you all settled?" she asked.
"Yes! Take us away!" Favi shouted in excitement.
Quickly everyone braced themselves as Sidero lifted her wings and took off into the air. With the powerful beating of her wings, she soared past the quarreling flabirs and ophoree. Looking down, Jasar widened his eyes and quickly nudged everyone, pointing to the ground. Large creatures with fins and blue bodies were fighting the Sinister army. The felines looked at each other with wide eyes before yowling as one looked to them.
In less than a second, a gush of water with the power of a geyser shot at the flying spirit and knocked her out of the air by the wings. A roar escaped Sidero as she tumbled down from the ground, quickly flaring her wings and crashing on her stomach. The bifers adjusted themselves after the crash, then looked up and widened their eyes as they saw two familiar figures running up to them.
"Raid! Crackle!" Jasar yelled as he quickly slid off of Sidero and came running up to them.
"They're still alive?" Latif hissed.
The ophoris and flabir skidded to a halt in front of the group, lowering their heads and letting out purrs and chirps. Raid then lifted her head to look at Sidero as the spirit nudged the others off of her before standing.
"Thank you so much, Sidero. We owe you everything we can offer," the living female rumbled, dipping her head respectfully.
The spirit seemed to give a small smile before looking around them. A large group of flabirs and ophoree were stalking toward them, hissing and growling with hostility. Quickly the group got into defensive positions.
