Picnic

Two Sune Cycles Later

Everyone sat in silence as they ate their food with the beastfolk they had left in the forest. They hadn't seen each other in a while, so they thought it was good to visit. The food they got from Snowfall Town was good and well cooked, it was what they had wanted after such a long time of raw food.

"So, how is this Olwen person anyway?" Raid asked, tilting her head.

"Well, she does seem very gloomy, after all she lost all of her family and is still trying to find her sister. I dunno if she's my type that way, but she's cute at the very least," Favi explained.

Marsh glared and punched the winter lynx's arm, who hissed and rubbed the hit spot. Jasar nervously flicked his tail back and forth as he looked to the others.

"It seems that the entire town is gloomy, and they tend to ask her about her progress. Her sister must have been a big deal or something," he mumbled.

"That or it's like what you said she explained, everyone is close in the town and are concerned for each other," Raid rumbled.

"It's incredible but also sad to see how the bifers are dealing with the Fires. I guess us flabirs never thought much about it considering that we thrive off of it," Crackle chirped softly, biting at his talons.

"It was a horrible event for all creatures, the iven dergou most certainly. I wonder if this whole war was because Morfran went insane from the contamination," Stag mumbled.

"It is a theory that that's what happened. I mean, I knew that Manipi and Morfran had rivalry over who would be king, but I think that Manipi would have given Morfran some kind of second in command place. If only Morfran hadn't tried to kill him over him being chosen..." Raid sighed out.

The group all went quiet when Latif suddenly perked up.

"You know, Morfran probably thought it was better to have an aggressive leader rather than one with all of the smarts. In my opinion, it works better that way, but I guess I see why having someone smart would work."

With that he went back to eating a sandwich while the bifers let out their groans of annoyance. The beasts were the only ones who looked at each other in confusion before glancing back to the bifers.

"Well, back to Olwen, do you think her sister disappearing could have to do with something of beastfolk?" Crackle asked.

"Maybe something with the iven dergou?" Stag added. "We are very close to Iverg Mountain after all."

The bifers looked to each other with uncertainty, shrugging a little.

"We hadn't thought about asking it, we kind of thought it would be better to keep quiet about the whole war, since no one seems to know about it," Jasar explained.

"Really? You'd think a town so close to the iven dergou would know at least a little bit about this battle," Raid mumbled.

"We could talk to Olwen about it, since it does make our... appearance a little strange," Favi suggested, nodding to Xengu, who growled and shifted her wings.

"And maybe we would know more about this mystery sister," Marsh added.

"But can we really trust Olwen with that information? We don't know her all that well," Xengu growled.

The others shifted uncomfortably at the fact that yes, they barely knew Olwen. They had only been taking shelter at the snow leopard's home and just happened to learn a bit about her. The group gazed at the ground as they thought about the situation before looking to the sky. It was orange with the colors of the sune setting. The bifers quickly got up at the sight of the time.
