Flight

Three Sune Cycles Later

A few sune cycles managed to pass on by, Marsh groaning and cracking open his eyes as sunlight hit his face. Holding up an arm, he stared at the window above his bedroom with a scrunched-up nose. With an angry frown on his face, he stared at the window with a glare before sighing and throwing the sheets from his body. The long-eared male then sat up and stretched, a strained groan escaping him. Swinging his legs over to the side of his bed, he stood up and walked over toward his door, twisting the knob and pulling it open. Stepping out into the hallway, he quietly scanned the area with his tired, dark green eyes, spotting his brother's room. Carefully walking down the hallway, he stopped at his brother's doorway and gently knocked on its wooden door. Quietly, he listened as he heard the rummaging of blankets and the soft shuffle of cautious paws.

Hearing a small amount of scratching at the door, he stepped back a little and watched as the knob turned. It slowly opened to reveal the young lynx, who's pale green eyes stared out, the small male carefully stepping out onto the wooden floor.

"B-brother?" He quietly called out.

"Good morning, Latif," the taller male purred, gently rubbing the top of the small male's head.

The cub's tail wagged a little, a small smile on his face and blank eyes closed with content. Turning his head to his left, he opened his eyes and stared out into the hallway, his blank gaze slowly turning somber.

"So you'll be leaving tosune... huh?"

A small frown crossed Marsh's face as he looked down at his younger brother, his long ears flicking back a little. Quietly, he embraced the small lynx cub and felt his hands slowly return the embrace, sighing a little.

"Yeah, I'm... leaving tosune..."

With a small whimper, the small lynx snuggled into the older lynx's fur, deepening the embrace.

"It's going to feel so weird, you not being around anymore..."

"I promise, I'll come back and visit some cycle."

"Isn't that a promise you can't really keep?" The small lynx asked, lifting his head a little.

Silence went through the air before the long-eared lynx had let out a sigh.

"You're right... I guess. But I'll make sure to take care of myself, and please, will you do the same?"

Latif nodded, and Marsh smiled, the two pulling out of the embrace.

"Let's get you to Belle's place, ok?"

"Alright, brother."

Quietly, the two headed off toward the living room, the older lynx occasionally stopping and getting a good look of his well taken care of home. He sure was going to miss this place, after all, he and his brother had been living in it for a long while. It felt like home, especially like their old one, the one they lived in so long ago. Eventually, after many stops and look arounds, the two finally made it to the front door, the orange marked lynx staring at it hesitantly. Once he stepped out, he'd finally be going to this giant island in the sky, but he'll have to leave his brother all by himself. It made him scared, more overly anxious. What would happen while he was gone, would there be more attacks?

Letting out a small sigh, the male lynx finally put his hand on the round doorknob and twisted it. He pulled the door open, carefully guiding his brother down the hallway and carefully leaving him to close the door. Taking the spare key by the door frame, he locked the door before putting the key back. A small sigh escaped the male as he stared at the door before turning and heading down the stairs, smiling at his brother.
