"Heyy Line. You're not ditching me today right? Don't leave me hanging. Tijn"
I woke up to his text and I have to admit, he made me smile. No, I was not planning on ditching him, but usually there would have been quite the realistic chance I would.
"Morning Tijn. Not ditching you, but don't forget the food, alright? Can't wait."
"Woooow, not calling me stubborn? That's a first. Can't wait to see you, beautiful."
After that, I spent most of the day laying on my bed, watching Netflix and relaxing. As it got closer to the evening, I took a shower, brushed my blonde hair and started to get ready. I put on a blue jeans, my red sneakers, and a black neck-holder top. Then I grabbed my grey cardigan, in case it would get cold, and said goodbye to Anna: "See you later, I guess.", I said to her. "Giiiirl. Enjoy! Have a nice evening.", she screamed excited. I hugged her and walked out the door, then started to make my way to Amstelveen.
When I got to the park close to the river, Martijn was already waiting for me by the gate. He was wearing a light grey hoodie, the hood over his head. When he recognized me, he smiled: "Line, hii! Good to see you." and then gave me a hug. I hugged him back and said: "Hi, stubborn. Good to see you too, I guess. What's the plan for the night?" "I figured I'd take you for a walk through the park, so we can get to know each other a little more, and after that I planned on getting pizza if you want to?", he suggested. "Consider me in.", I answered with a slight smile. We started to walk through the park. "So, what do you do for a living? You still haven't told me.", I asked him. Start off with something simple, I figured. I still hadn't really got the hang of this "dating" thing. "You have no clue, right? I mean, you wouldn't really believe me if I told you.", he said and chuckled. "So what? Go ahead and spit it out.", I replied. "Okay well, I make music.", he started to explain, "I attended the Herman Broodt Academie in Utrecht and learned how to produce and stuff. And.... I might be a well know DJ, too." "You're kidding.", I laughed, "Come on, tell me the real story!" "Nooo, I'm not!", he insisted, "I'm for real. Does "Martin Garrix" ring a bell for you?" "The guy who had that hit track, "Animals"? I've heard of him. But never seen a face. Don't tell me it's you.", I wondered. "It is.", he said and bowed in front of me, "The one and only." "Stop it, you show-off. I don't believe you. That guy is world famous.", I giggled. He took out his phone, opened his Instagram and handed it over to me. "Believe me now?", he asked. "Woow. I had no idea. I... Sorry I didn't take you for real.", I said. "It feels good. Finally a girl who doesn't scream or cry when she sees me, not one of these attention whores. It feels good to have someone get to know me as Martijn, not Martin. You know?", he exclaimed. "But... Why me?", I asked, "You could have any girl in the world if you'd like to." "Cause you're beautiful.", he smirked, "And cause you gave us contra. You didn't fall for Julian and I's bad pickup lines, but tried to send us away. That's attractive. Makes me wanna know more about you." I still couldn't believe what I was getting myself into, so I was speechless. No ironic comment to fire back. As he would say... That's a first. His big blue eyes looked directly into mine and seemed to scan me: "Now you're star-struck, right? Can we maybe just go back to me being Martijn and start it from there? Please?" "You got me pretty good, I have to admit. But okay, let's try. I'm Line. And you are?", I tried. "Martijn. Or better call me Tijn, that's what my friends say. Nice to meet you, beautiful.", he replied with a smile. "Nice to meet you too.", I said back. We walked a little, when he asked: "So now, would you tell me a little more about yourself? I only know that you are studying, and that you're one hell of a tough girl. But that's about it." I chuckled, he was right: "Sooo basically, I'm Line, 21 years old and I'm from Leiden. I study here in Amsterdam, Media Management to be exact, and I live together with Anna. She's my best friend." "And else?", he asked, "What do you enjoy? What's your passion?" My passion? Good question. "I love the sea. I could spend endless hours there.", I said, "And creative writing. I love creating stories, creating new worlds. That's my passion, I guess." "That's beautiful.", he said and smiled. "And yourself?", I asked and added "Except for being world famous" in my head. I still didn't really trust him too much. "I looove chocolate. And pizza. But that's just food haha. As I told you, music is basically my life. Except for that, I am a family guy. I love my family and friends. Oh and sports! Surfing is my favorite!", he explained. We continued to walk through the park and chatted for a while. It wasn't one of the best dates I've ever had, but still, Martijn made an effort. And he was handsome, too. His gaze fascinated me, his blue eyes were intriguing.
