Martijn shot me a weird look, somehow worried, somehow confused and asked: "This is not about us, is it? Is this something you feel we need to talk about?" "It's not about us.", I said and Martijn calmed down, "Indeed you have never asked me how I feel about it all. But as I said, this is not about us. And to answer my own question, I feel like I'm getting along with it quite well." "I'm glad to hear that.", Martijn answered, "But what is this about then if it's not about us? Is he finally asking Anna out?" I gave Martijn a smile and said: "I think so. You know how he always cares so much about others and wants everything to be perfect for them? The only thing that currently stops him from asking her out is that he genuinely doesn't want her to get hurt by any negative sides that come with his profession as a DJ and producer. That's why he wanted to know how I'm getting along with your crazy life, you know?" "It's about time he finally makes a move on her!!", Martijn laughed but then got more serious again, "I'm actually glad he asked you about it, because I literally thought about the same things before letting you into my life.. But I thought I'd leave the decision to you whether you want to deal with all this crazy stuff or not. And you said yes." He then placed a kiss on my lips. "I'd say yes over and over again.", I smiled, "And what you just said is exactly the advice I gave him. Anna never stops talking about him, so I'm sure she's gonna say yes if he has the courage to ask her. She would just never dare to ask him out herself." "They'd be a cute couple.", Martijn remarked, "She'd be the perfect fit for him!" "Absolutely.", I agreed. "But baby, going back to what you said earlier: Is there anything that actually bothers you about everything that comes with my job and all the touring? I don't want you to be hurt either.", he wanted to know. I let my head rest on his shoulder for a little bit, before I admitted: "I guess for me the hardest part is just when I miss you while you're on tour and I am back home in the Netherlands. When you're gone for several weeks it sometimes feel like a long distance relationship but even more crazy cause you're in a different timezone nearly every day. But now that I have you home for a little while, I'm not complaining I guess!" "I know what you mean, baby, I miss you just as much! You know what? We should try and make it happen for you to come to more of my shows when I can get back on stage again. There's nothing better than seeing you stand on the side of the stage watching the show.", Martijn suggested. "I'd love that.", I smiled, "But honey to be able to get back on stage, we all need you to get some rest in. You were only released from the hospital today after all. Let's go home now, okay?" "I can't wait to cuddle up with you tonight.", Martijn smirked. "I said you're supposed to get some rest and not that we're staying up all night.", I protested. "We'll see about that girl, we'll see about that.", he smirked again and then got up from his chair. I helped him pack his stuff and then we slowly made our way back into the car. As soon as we got home, staying up all night turned into falling asleep immediately as soon as Martijn laid down in bed. His body finally called for the sleep Martijn needed. I tugged him in and opened up the window to let in some fresh summer air. After that I sat down next to him and stared out of the window. The city lights of Amsterdam glimmered in the distance, as my gaze fell back upon Martijn. A thought ran through my head how I was so damn lucky to have him. I placed a little kiss on his forehead and then cuddled up next to him. It took me quite some time to fall asleep, but listening to the sounds of Amsterdam falling asleep outside of our windows and Martijn breathing calmly next to me helped me to fall asleep after a while. The next morning, I woke up early to head to my classes while Martijn was still asleep. Before I left the house, I wrote a little note for him that I placed on the kitchen table and prepared everything for his breakfast. Then I grabbed my backpack, filled up my water bottle and walked out the door. Anna was already waiting for me in front of the lecture hall. We hugged and immediately started to chat. As always, we didn't even realize how quickly time passed during the day. During lunchtime, we sat down outside on the grass and while we were eating, the conversation somehow shifted to talking about our boys again. "Can you believe it's been so long since we first ran into Martijn and Julian?", Anna exclaimed. "I know, it's crazy!", I replied. "And you didn't even wanna talk to Martijn in the first place!", she laughed, "I'm so happy that you did though. It is like you two are made for each other! How long have you been together now?" "He was a little cocky in the beginning though", I laughed, "But I'm so glad you ran off with Julian immediately because otherwise, god knows if I would have continued to talk to Martijn." A dreamy look appeared on Anna's face, so I added: "You like him a lot, don't you? When are you seeing him again?" "I think I'll see him either tomorrow or maybe even tonight.", she answered with a smile. "That's amazing!", I answered. "And we need to go on a little shopping trip together soon! It's his birthday in two weeks and I still don't have a gift for him! I neeeed you to help me pick something!", she requested. "Absolutely!", I agreed, "We'll find something great for sure. I don't even know if Martijn has a present yet, but I definitely need something for Julian as well!" "Perfect!", she smiled, "We'll do that soon!" We continued to talk for the rest of the break, before we headed back into the lecture hall for the rest of our classes. It always felt good to spend some quality time with her, Anna was literally like family for me.
