51 - Second Family

Martijn and I spent the next while together, just being close to each other, talking and dreaming about all the things we would do when he was fully recovered again. One time he fell asleep again, due to the pain and the exhaustion, but generally he was doing fine. After a while we heard a knock on the door and Julian and Anna entered the room, hand in hand. Martijn smiled as they stepped up to his bed to give him a hug. "How are you doing brother?", Julian asked and sat down next to Martijn. "I'm fine, don't worry!", Martijn replied, "The doctors were very satisfied with the result of the surgery and now I just have to be a little patient and take the time I need to recover." Anna laughed: "We all know that being patient for this long is gonna be hard for you." "Luckily, you have us to distract you a little bit.", Julian added, "I actually just found this cool plugin I wanted to show you, wait let me get my laptop." Soon they both got completely into their little production world and stared at the screen of Julian's laptop, figuring out a new kick-drum. Anna and I let them do their thing and went for a little walk along the corridors. "You were holding hands. Again!", I exclaimed as soon as we closed the door behind us, "Like when is he finally gonna ask you out?" "I don't knoooow.", she replied, "But actually, I'm now at the point where I really wish he would. I just feel like we have grown really close over the past months and it would feel good to make it official. Though I don't really know if Julian's looking for something like this to be honest." "I mean, you probably know him better than I do, but I do think he is someone who really needs to be 100 % sure and confident about something before he agrees to it. He just wants to make it perfect, I guess. That's why I believe he is probably just waiting for the right time to make things official. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!", I smiled. "Thank you, Line.", Anna said. "So what are your plans for the day?", I asked. "Well, I guess he said something about grabbing a bite to eat and then watch a movie at his apartment. Which basically means I'm sleeping over at his place. And you do know what else that means.", she smiled. "Sounds good!", I answered, "You deserve to have a great time together." "What about you?", she asked, "Staying here with Martijn for a bit longer?" "Yeah, I guess, I'll stay here probably until the guys from his team come over to visit him. If he's lucky, they might let him go home tomorrow. That would be quite cool, because I don't think this hospital environment is doing him any good.", I answered. "So how are you keeping up?", Anna asked, "I'm sure all of this isn't too easy for you either, given that it is the same hospital..." I sighed: "Yeah, I guess I could really use a little break. But Martijn is just being super sweet to me and he made me tell him everything. Before you guys arrived we just sat there and cuddled and that really made me feel better." Anna gave me a little smile: "You guys are literally the sweetest. It's just like you're meant for each other." "Thanks, Anna.", I smiled back. We then made our way back to Martijn's room. After a little while, Julian and Anna decided to leave. They hugged Martijn good-bye and promised to come to visit him when he was discharged from the hospital. I climbed back on Martijn's bed to sit next to him and we spent another hour just being close to each other. Then suddenly, we heard a knock on the door and just seconds later we found not only Gabe, Menno and Watse, but the whole Garrix team piling into the room. I got up from Martijn's bed and stepped back a little to let him have this moment with his team, or better said, his second family. All the guys hugged him, one of them brought a couple of Pizzas and another one gave him a card that was signed by the whole crew from the studios and his label. As the moment was right, I walked back over to Martijn's bed and gave him a kiss: "Okay honey, would it be okay if I went home now? You have all these guys here to take care of you, so that way you won't get bored, right?" "Of course, baby.", Martijn answered and gave me another kiss, "You deserve a little rest." "I'll see you tomorrow then. Text me when you wake up, okay?", I smiled. "I will. I promise, baby.", he said, "thank you for being here with me!" "Feel better soon! I love you.", I said and kissed him good-bye. "Love you too!", he answered. I then threw a "Good bye everyone!" into the room, grabbed my bag and then made my way home. As I arrived to the dorms, I just fell into my bed, completely exhausted. Just shortly before I fell asleep, my phone lit up with a good night text from Martijn:

Martijn: "Hey Emerald Eyes. Haven't called you like that in a long while, right? Just wanted to say I love you. Good night, baby ♥ "

Line: "Hey there, blue eyes ♥ feel better soon! Love you lots. I'll see you tomorrow!"

I texted him back and then fell asleep. The next morning I woke up to another text of Martijn.

Martijn: "Good morning love. Had quite a rough night, but I'm fine now. My family will be here any second and the doctors are going to run a few final tests later this morning and then I will be allowed to go home. Will you come pick me up or should I ask my family to do it?"

Line: "hey there! That sounds good, I'm glad you're feeling better now! Of course I'll come pick you up if you want to! Will you let me know when to be there? Oh and say hi to your family from me ♥"

Martijn: "Of course I will. Thank you love, you don't even know how much I appreciate you being there for me. See you soon!"

After I read the text, I got up and headed out for a much needed run to clear my head from all these thoughts. As I got back, I walked over to the dining hall to get breakfast. While I was eating, Martijn texted me the time he would be ready to go home so I spent the next few hours doing homework for my classes, before I got ready to pick him up from the hospital.
