Chapter 30: Married Man, Married Woman
---
I was in the counter of the pharmacy five minutes before my lunch break.
"Miss."
"Yes!" nagulat ako nang may tumawag sa akin. Akala ko bibili ng gamot or magpapabasa ng reseta or what but it turns out that it's,
"Mikee."
"Lunch?" she asked me and smile a bit.
Am I dreaming? This is the first time she insisted a conversation since he knew Josh is already my boyfriend.
"Anong nakain mo?" tanong ko. I smile so wide.
"Kakain pa nga lang diba?" she kidded.
Naglakad kami ng magkaholding hands. It's been a while since we became this close, literally close.
"And you know what, my menstruation stopped again."
"Hindi ka na naman siguro kumakain ng gulay." sabi ko.
Bumalik na talaga 'yung kaibigan ko. Even the smallest detail, she's telling it to me.
"I did! Twice a week lang ako mag meat or anything. Feeling ko kambing na ako dahil puro damo ang kinakain ko."
"So ano sinabi sayo?"
"She said I'm old. And these cases are common among teenagers below 18. Baka daw mahirapan akong magkaanak or worst I can't be pregnant."
"That's kinda incisive." I commented.
"Yes but I don't have time to do such fucking dramas. Ano naman kung hindi ako mabuntis?"
"Woah. Your words are awful!"
Sobrang na-miss ko talaga s'ya. Lalo na 'yung pagiging maingay n'ya. Those endless stories that she's telling me about her day, I miss them all.
But I'm afraid of her current thoughts about my relationship with Josh. I'm afraid to ask. Too risky to ask and perhaps I can ruin her mood.
We decided to eat at Vikings, this is usually where we're eating lunch together. Then so when we're still waiting for our food, she continue her stories.
"I'm going to resign at work."
"Na naman?"
"Boring there..."
"Ayaw mo 'nun, walang ginagawa pero kumikita ka." I said. Because I wish my work's like that.
"I'm going to study again."
"What?"
"Law."
My jaw dropped. Although it suits her because she has the confidence... but I still can't imagine her standing inside the court room being serious.
"Did someone broke your heart?" I asked her.
"No. There's someone I like and he's a law student. I'm going to follow him there."
Wtf?
"Hoy, hindi madali 'yang gagawin mo. Pwede mo naman s'yang sundan sa ibang paraan."
"But I heard he's only approaching law students like him. Just anyone who shares the same interest."
"It's not your interest." sabi ko. Entering law school 'just for fun' is no joke.
