They pulled Booths SUV into the crackled parking lot Brennan had seen the day before. She had decided that they would leave her car at the cafe. She glanced at Booth and unbuckled her seat belt.
"Are you ready?" he asked as she bit her slightly quivering lip. She was still shooken up from the incident earlier.
"The question is are you?" she answered back. Her teeth still leaving the nervous empression on her bottom lip.
"Defiantly. You still want me to come with you?" he glanced at the clock on the now dimmed dash radio. "It's 12:21. if you don't want me to go in I can si-" she cut him off before he could finish.
"Yes, I mean if you still want to go. I can use your support." He smiled at her simple but yet so meaningful gesture.
"Let's go Bones." he smiled and they both proudly excited the SUV.
They approached the wooden door that Brennan was familiar with, booth not so much. He glanced at Brennan and nodded. She smiled and silently told him to enter first. He turned the creeky door nob to find the horrible smell that Brennan had grown fairly ammun to, despite smelling it most her life it still made her stomach turn.
They walked with the creeks in the floor to the desk that held the rude lady, wearing the same exact clothing as the day before. The thought past threw Brennan's mind; had this woman even bathed?
"Hi, I have a appointme-" the rude lady held her hand up signaling for her to stop talking.
"I know. Go have a seat she'll be right with you." She gestured to the same seats she was appointed to yesterday. She glared at booth and started toward the raggedy chairs, giving Booth the cleanest one, which wasn't so clean at all.
They waited in the silence of each other's thoughts for well over ten excruciating minutes, when 12:46 rolled around the lady Brennan had a few words with yesterday opened the wood door that led to the future of Brennan's life that was about to unfold.
"Ms.Brennan, right this way. Is he with you?" she pointed slightly at booth and grinned the fake smile.
"Yes. He will be joining me in the meeting today. is that a problem?" Brennan threw the same fake smile back at the woman two feet away.
"No, you didn't mention you where in a relationship." Booth eyes shot from the dusty wood to the fake smile.
"He's - we're not in a... he is my partner." Brennan held her hand to her chin. Booths lips broke out into a smile at her sudden lost at words. "We work together."
Mrs.Brock smiled and motioned then both into the room. "Okay let's get started. I assume you have made a assumption of what age group you would like to foster, am I correct Ms.brennan." Booth glanced at Brennan as she shot him a look tell him that the woman was sincerely a pain.
"Actually I have made a more pacific 'assumption'." she put emphasis on the word as it trailed out of her slightly perched mouth.
"Oh. Well what did you have in mind. But by all means Ms. Brennan, one child is all the state will grant you far as what the government will pay for the child to stay with you." brennan smiled the dumb lady thought Brennan was in this for the money.
"I don't mean to adopt more than one child, Mrs.Brock, and certainly don't need the money for the child to be take care of. I have all finical problems solved and enough money that I could've retired from me job ten years ago." She had a grin that seemed to have spread across her face at expressing her wealth. Most people didn't believe someone like her could own so much money until they look at her bank account.
