Chapter thirty eight

The following week was dragging. A call from Mrs. Brock came yesterday alerting the family the court would like to know when they would be available. Brennan being well Brennan told she would speak to booth before answering, Mrs. Brock gave the no rush speech before bidding the anthropologist goodbye.

The Monday morning came fast. Booth woke up at usual time and headed off to work. Brennan and Piper where due to a pipers first dentist appointment at 12:30.

The clock struck 11:00 as Brennan lifted pipers small figure out of the bath.

"Mommy I'm cold."

Brennan smiled. It was obvious that Piper was cold by the chill bumps rising across her skin.

"I can tell. Come on let's go get your clothes on. We are in a rush. "

The little girl nodded and happily trotted off to her mothers room for her daily dose of scar meds. Brennan had begun the treatment to bid the scars away two days before the call from Mrs. Brock. She had explained the medication to her daughter and with Pipers soon to be adoptive father holding her hand as her soon to be adoptive mom applied the medicine.

"Mommy is this stuff going to take them lines away foreva?"

"Hopefully baby. They took mommy's away."

"Mommy you had scars like mine?"

"Yes very much like yours. But I only have a few now. Before I met your daddy I had been very sad because of my scars. But then he told me I was beautiful no matter how many scars I had."

"Am I beautiful?"

Brennan placed the cap back on the tube before standing and scooping her daughter into her arms.

"Piper you are more than beautiful, baby. I will tell you that everyday. I love you baby."

Pipers face lit up at her mommys compliment.

"How about we get your clothes on. We have a dentist appointment to go to."

Piper had been hesitant to go to the dentist at first, mostly because she didn't know what it was because she had never been. But Parker took upon the roll to explain to her there was absolutely nothing to be afraid of. He even promised her if she didn't cry he would let her come to the dentist with him next time he had an appointment.

"Okay mommy. can I wear a dress?"

Brennan smiled at her daughter.

"How about we wear some jeans and a tee? you'll be more comfortable."

Piper was a little confused at what comfortable meant but decided to put trust in her mom to be able to decided for her.

"Okay mommy."

The duo made their way toward pipers room, both smiling happily. Piper was actually excited about going to the dentist for the first time. Brennan only hoped that it continued that way.
