Lee's on scotch #5 and heartbreak #2, Abbie's out of the picture, and Anya is across the booth from him, because he's her friend and this right here is what friends are for.
"Do you ever think we gave up too soon?" he asks; he doesn't need to add the on us part.
Sometimes she likes when he's sad, that kind of liking that makes your chest hurt in a bad/good way, because it reminds her that he's a human and she wasn't being completely stupid when she fell in love with him.
"Yeah," she says, "yeah, sometimes."
