Unexpected Surprise (Skyelo) Chapter 1 ~
At General Hospital ~ Skye was in a hospital bed with Lorenzo by her side. "I'm sure it's nothing, I just failed, that's all," Skye said. "Skye, you just recovered from that virus," Lorenzo replied. "Yes, and I'm just resting, that's all," Skye insisted as Dr. Kelly and Robin entered. "So, what is it?" Skye asked. "You are recovering great from the virus, but that's not what this is," Robin explained. "Then what is it?" Skye inquired. "You're pregnant," Dr. Kelly announced. Skye looked at Lorenzo. "Wow," Skye exclaimed. "Skye, I would like to talk to you about it when you're ready," Dr. Kelly said. "Thank you, I will," Skye replied. Dr. Kelly and Robin left. "I have to ask, is there a question about who the father is?" Lorenzo asked. "No, I'm in shock over this— a baby," Skye said. "Me too," Lorenzo responded, sitting on the bed as Skye cried. Lorenzo wiped her tears. "Why are you crying?" he asked. "A long time ago, I was in a car accident, and I was told if I became pregnant, the baby would die. The accident was my fault, Lorenzo. There's no way I can carry this child just to lose it," Skye explained. "I don't want that either. Whatever Dr. Kelly wants you to do, I will support you," Lorenzo assured her. "We only slept together once, and now I'm pregnant," Skye said. "Yes," Lorenzo confirmed. "There's also a lot to think about— whether I can carry this child and if he or she is healthy, plus your line of work," Skye added. "If you do have this baby, I will protect him or her with my life," Lorenzo promised. "I know you will," Skye said as Alan entered. "Dad, why are you here?" Skye asked. "I would like to talk to Skye alone," Alan said. "Sure," Lorenzo said, leaving the room. "Skye, when you were sick with the virus, I did a DNA test on you. You're my daughter after all. Tracy switched the test," Alan revealed. "Oh my God, two shocks in one day. I'm so glad I'm your daughter," Skye exclaimed. "Me too. I always knew," Alan replied. "Thank you for loving me and supporting me," Skye said. "You're welcome. You should call Rae," Alan suggested. "I will," Skye agreed. "So, why are you here?" Alan asked. "I wasn't feeling well, and it turns out I'm pregnant," Skye answered, crying again. "Skye, why are you crying?" Alan inquired. "I want this baby so badly. I always wanted one, but I don't think I can carry her or him to full term; he or she will die," Skye said. "Why do you say that?" Alan asked. "I was in an accident in Pine Valley. It's my fault, and I was told this would happen," Skye explained. "Skye, if you want this baby, I will find the best doctors for you," Alan assured her. "Thank you," Skye said. "Do you love Lorenzo?" Alan asked. "I don't know. It all just happened so fast," Skye admitted. "Yes, it did," Alan agreed. Dr. Kelly then entered. "Dr. Kelly, do you have my chart from when I lived in Pine Valley?" Skye asked. "Yes, and I've looked at your case. You could have placental abruption, where your uterus could separate, but we can monitor it," Dr. Kelly explained. "Have you dealt with this before?" Skye asked. "Yes, I have," Dr. Kelly confirmed. "What are the results for other mothers?" Skye inquired. "Some have healthy pregnancies. You also need to stay away from stress," Dr. Kelly advised as Lorenzo returned. "I will make sure Skye stays away from stress," Lorenzo promised. "Dr. Kelly, thank you. I'd like to go home," Skye said. "Yes, you can. You'll need to come in for visits and many checkups if you keep the baby," Dr. Kelly responded. "Thank you," Skye said. Dr. Kelly left. "Skye, do you want me to take you home?" Lorenzo asked. "No, I'll take my daughter home," Alan declared. "Lorenzo, I just need some time, and I'll call you later," Skye said. "Alright, Skye. I will be in this baby's life," Lorenzo vowed and left. "Dad, tell me it's going to be okay," Skye begged. "It's going to be okay," Alan assured her.
