Unexpected Surprise, Chapter 11 (Skyelo)

At Lorenzo and Skye's place—Lorenzo was downstairs on the phone. "Did you find anything?" Lorenzo asked as Skye approached him and Lorenzo hung up the phone. "I haven't heard anything," Skye replied. "Skye, you don't have to be so careful; this is your house too, and I want us to try to get out of this life for our child," Lorenzo said, touching Skye's face. "Is there a way out?" Skye asked. "I'm working on it," Lorenzo replied. "If you can't, I will accept it—just make sure it doesn't affect our child. I don't want our kid to get shot like Michael," Skye said. "I won't let that happen, I promise you, Skye," Lorenzo said, sharing a kiss. "Lorenzo, I said it yesterday, and I meant it—I do love you and accept you for who you are," Skye declared. "I love you too and accept you for who you are," Lorenzo responded. "No more running for either of us," Skye added. "No," Lorenzo agreed as Rae entered. "Sorry," Rae said. "No, it's okay. We should leave for the hospital," Skye said. "Yes," Lorenzo affirmed. "Skye, it's going to be okay," Rae soothed. "I hope so," Skye replied. Skye, Lorenzo, and Rae left.

At The Metro Co.—Carly was at her desk doing paperwork when Alexis entered, followed by Jax. "So, Alexis, are you going to wait?" Jax asked. "Yes, I am. I don't want to hurt Skye; I just want to deal with this," Alexis said. "Deal with what?" Carly asked as she approached and Alexis and Jax turned around. "What are you two talking about?" Carly inquired. "None of your business—that's what. This is between Jax and me!" Alexis yelled and left. "What was that about?" Carly asked. "Just leave it alone, Carly," Jax said. "Fine," Carly agreed. "So, how's the hotel?" Jax asked. "Not good. Jax, we're in financial trouble with the hotel," Carly admitted. "I know. I made a business deal that didn't go well, and I had to borrow money from the hotel," Jax explained. "Why didn't you tell me?" Carly pressed. "I don't have to run all the business deals by you. We're not married; we're just partners in the hotel," Jax stated. "So, what are we going to do?" Carly asked.

At General Hospital—Skye was lying on the bed, with Lorenzo and Rae in the room when Dr. Kelly entered. "We're going to do an ultrasound today to make sure the baby is okay," Dr. Kelly announced. "Can we find out the sex of the baby?" Lorenzo asked. "It's too soon for that," Dr. Kelly replied. "Well, we want to know if he's or she's healthy," Skye requested. "Yes," confirmed Dr. Kelly. Dr. Kelly started the ultrasound, and Lorenzo took Skye's hand. "So, how's the baby?" Skye inquired. "Good, so far. Do you want to hear the heartbeat?" Dr. Kelly offered. "Yes," Skye responded. They listened to the heartbeat. "Wait, was that two heartbeats?" Skye asked. "It sounds like it," Rae confirmed. "Yes, looks like you're having twins," Dr. Kelly said. "Wow, twins," Lorenzo exclaimed, visibly in shock. "So far, they are both healthy, right?" Skye asked. "Yes. You just need to stay away from stress and take it easy, but the twins should be fine," Dr. Kelly assured. "We have a lot to prepare before they arrive," Skye said. "Yes," Lorenzo agreed. "We'll figure it out, Skye. Thank you for letting me be here," Rae added. "You're welcome, Mother," Skye responded. Rae kissed Skye on the cheek and then left, overwhelmed, going into the hallway to cry.

In the hallway—Rae was crying when Monica approached. "Rae," Monica greeted. "I know I will soon have to tell Skye the truth, and I don't want to admit that I'm not her mother," Rae admitted. "Why did you lie?" Monica asked. "I didn't want to deal with losing my baby," Rae explained. "I understand that pain, but you need to face it," Monica advised. "I know. Skye wants to name the baby, if it's a girl, Lila Rae," Rae said. "After Lila and you—that's very sweet. I'm sure Skye will be upset when she finds out, but maybe she'll understand why you lied," Monica said. "You know Skye?" Rae asked. "Yes, but becoming a mother will change her," Monica replied. "Thanks for being kind to me," Rae said. "Well, it helps that Alan doesn't want anything to do with you," Monica added. "No, I lost Alan because of this lie," Rae lamented. "Yes, you did," Monica agreed.
