Delta's POV:
It was Valentine's Day-one of the most romantic holidays...well, if you had someone. If not, it was just your average Saturday. This morning I woke up to roses in a vase on the kitchen table, who I thought were for my mom, but they were actually for me. I looked at the card, figuring they were from Adam, but was shocked when the name said, 'from: Jim'. I walked over to the Davenport's to find Zadie and Leo sitting on the couch, looking bored out of their minds."Hey, guys." I greeted, walking in the door and shutting it behind me. "Where are Adam, Bree, and Chase?"
"They had a mission. Said they'd be back later." Zadie explained. "What's with them missing all of these holidays?"
"They've been gone all morning. I woke up about nine-thirty, and they had already left. I'm mission specialist Dooley. They can't do that!" Leo argued.
"Do you guys know a-" I was gonna ask about the flowers until I was cut off by Tasha running into the room, holding a bunch of pictures in her hand.
"Aw, you guys, look what I found!" She came and sat on the couch, as I did the same. "I was cleaning out some old boxes from a storage closet and found these old school party pictures." Tasha handed us each some pictures, and we began looking through.
Zadie started laughing. "Remember this one?" She set out a picture where the three of us were dressed as the Wonder Pets for Halloween Day at school in second grade.
"Ooh, how about this one." I set the picture of the three of us going spelunking on a field trip in the fourth grade.
"Ew, that's where I fainted in the cave and scared half the teachers to death. I absolutely hated that trip." Zadie laughed.
"I remember that. I was a chaperone, and you were not having it that day. You got stuck like four times." Tasha added.
"Yeah, well that was when I was chubby little Zadie." Zadie said.
"Oh, yeah. I totally forgot that you weren't always teeny tiny." Leo said.
"Yep, here's the picture to prove it, too." It was the picture from Field Day and there was a tiny, chubby little Zadie standing on the side, glaring at everyone.
"What was I?" Zadie asked. "I looked like an overweight chipmunk that had one too many peanuts."
"Well, if you remember, I had a lisp when I was younger." I reminded.
"Oh yeah...you did. I had totally forgotten about that." Leo said.
"How could you forget? Remember when Delta would always say, 'Come on, guys. We-uh hunting wabbits." Zadie joked, causing the four of us to laugh.
"Oh my gosh, you guys. Check this one out; it's from sixth grade." Leo set out a picture of us a a Valentine's Day party eating chocolate by ourselves and writing stuff down on paper.
"Ah!" I laughed. "Was that when we created the Valentine's pact?"
"It was!" Zadie agreed.
"I don't remember that one." Tasha said.
"Yeah, well that's because we kept it a secret for so long."
"Do you guys even remember what it said?" Leo asked.
-SIXTH GRADE-
THIRD PERSON's POV:Leo, Zadie, and Delta were sitting alone, hovering the corner desk and eating chocolate at the sixth grade Valentine's Day party.
"It sucks. This is sith grade. People don't need to be in relationships. I'm gonna riot." Delta lisped, crossing her arms, angrily.
"Yeah, I agree with lispy-Lucy over here. It's sixth grade, people!" Zadie stated, looking at two people who were talking. Leo was in a daze, and not exactly listening to his two best friends.
"Oh, come on, guys Is it really that bad to like someone?" Leo asked the two.
"No, but you've been obsessing over Janelle Pettis since the second grade." Delta told him.
"Yeah, she's said hi to you maybe once, and that was because you were partners in math." Zadie told him.
"That's more times than your math partner has said hi to you." Leo shot back. "Ah, I guess you're right. I'm never gonna get a girlfriend." Leo put his head down on the desk.
"If it makes you feel any better, we're never gonna have boyfriends." Zadie patted his back.
"Nope." Delta greed. "But who needs a companion? We've got each other." Delta smiled.
"Let's make a pact." Zadie said. "If none of us are married by age forty, we can marry each other, move in together, and have a pet turtle name Ernie."
"You don't want kids?" Delta asked.
"Did you not just hear me? We have Ernie." Zadie stated.
"Honestly, sounds like a plan." Leo admitted.
"Yeah, I'm in."
So, the three wrote down on the back of a candy box 'The Valentine's Pact' and later that night, watched cheesy romance comedies and ate ice cream out of the pint.
-End Flashback-
Delta's POV:We explained the story to Tasha, and I ended with, "Yeah, and the next year we all had massive glow ups where Zadie lost weight and I lost my lisp and Leo lost...um."
"All hope in ever being with Janelle." Zadie reminded me.
"Because in sixth grade she was lab partners with Jimmy Tucker all year."
"Way to remind me, guys. And plus, technically, I'm with Janelle now, so who really won?"
"Yeah, you still may need that pact in a few years." I joked.
"So, Del, did you like the flowers?" Zadie asked.
"The flowers? How did you know about those?"
"Oh, well, they were for my mom from this one-night-stand dude and she made me mad yesterday, so I took her flowers."
"You're awful, Z." I laughed.
"Yeah, I know. I'm also hungry." Zadie getting up and walking to the freezer and getting ice cream and a spoon out.
"Some things never change, Zadie." I said, joining her by grabbing a spoon and eating from the pint.
A/N: So, this chapter wasn't exactly planned and has no meaning to the story really, but I wrote it at like three am when I was half asleep and will definitely think back and ask myself what the hell was I thinking, but I honestly hope everyone semi-enjoys this og chapter. I wanted you to also get a glimpse into Leo, Zadie, and Delta's pasts to show how they've grown and glowed up. Anyway, the next chapter is Trent Gets Schooled.
until next time,
Ann & Nikki:)
