Leo's POV:
Delta was over, but not Zadie. I've been texting her every now and then to make sure she's at least alive. She's fine. She's just sitting at home with her 'sick' sisters. We were in the lab waiting for Davenport to 'dazzle' us with his new invention.
"Is Zadie not here again?" Bree asked.
"No, they must have the flu or something." I brushed off.
"Inventing the wheel? Boring. Discovering electricity? Snooze. Sliced bread? Lame. But now, Davenport Industries introduces the world's first...Proton Fuser!"
"You know, for a scientist you'd think your payoffs would be a bit more proportionate to your buildups."I stated.
"Uh, the payoff is that it allows us to see the origins of the universe. This things fuses subatomic particles so we can understand how planets form." Davenport explained.
"Well, we already understand how boredom forms." Bree said.
"Haven't you ever wondered where stuff comes from? Galaxies? Stars? Planets?"
"This stuff? No. Onion rings? Yes." Adam said.
"Guys, I have always wanted to build this thing and now it's a reality. It's an important life lesson: if you ever have a dream, believe in it, because it can happen."
"Um, Mr. Davenport, isn't it dangerous to tinker with the fabric of the universe?" Chase asked.
"Ha ha, he said tinker." Adam laughed, causing Delta to put her head down and laugh at his statement.
"Yes, technically it could de-stabilize the earth or open up a wormhole into a parallel universe, but I made it and I wanna play with it." Davenport said, going to turn it on. "Prepare to be amazed." The invention then started to turn blue.
"Or gravely injured." Chase remarked.
The invention then sparked out and powered down. "Once again, big build up, teeny-tiny playoff." I said, as soon as my mom walked through the door.
"Okay, the popcorn is popping and the movie is uploaded...or down loaded...oh whatever, the red thingy is blinking green. Just head upstairs. It's movie time."
"I do love a matinee." I said, as I began to head upstairs.
"Hold it mister, no movie for you until you finish your chores. Your room is a mess and you haven't washed the dishes in days." My mom stopped me.
"But I've been looking forward to this movie all week." I argued.
"And I've been looking forward to clean dishes all week."
"Really? Well, that's just sad." I said, as I followed her upstairs.
Everyone was on the couch, watching the movie while I was doing the dishes. I decided to make my way over where I could see the screen, but ended up dropping a dish when my mom yelled at me.
"I said no movie. First, you won't do the dishes, and then you break them?"
"Hey, you said you hate looking at dirty dishes and that's one less to look at." I reasoned.
"That is it. No TV for the rest of the week." She told me.
"That is not fair. By the way I've seen this movie. I wouldn't get too attached to that dog." Angrily, I went downstairs and saw that the Proton Fuser had turned on. "I'm gonna go ahead and say it, this isn't gonna end well. Help!" A few seconds later, I was laying on the lab floor. Nothing seemed different. "I do not know what just happened, but I need a bathroom." I said, running upstairs. The whole house looked different. It looked like an Italian furniture shop.
