Daddy's Little Lucy

Chapter 23 - Idiot 1 & Idiot 2

           

The next morning, I held Lucy in my arms as we waited outside the guild for our team mates with Happy flying beside us. I was standing there proud of my ninja skills. Earlier this morning, I snuck Lucy and Happy out of Lucy's apartment with Lucy's clothes that Gray packed the night before. At the time Lucy was sleeping in my arms while cuddling a sleeping Happy. I stopped by my place to grab some of Happy's and my stuff before heading towards the guild. By the time I left my place, Lucy and Happy had woken up.

Now waiting outside the guild, I spotted Erza, Wendy and Carla walking towards the guild. Once they spotted us, Wendy gave us a wave hello while Erza just nodded in greeting. "Where are the others?" Erza asked, "I'm not sure. Last I saw them, they were sleeping at Lucy's apartment" I replied. "Since we have some time before our meeting time and some time before the others get here, I have an outfit for Lucy to try on" Erza said with stars in her eyes.

"Do you want to go with Aunty Erza?" I asked Lucy and she nodded. Erza took Lucy off of me and walked inside. "I want to help" Wendy said and followed Erza inside. I looked at my feet and saw Happy trying to offer Carla his fish. She huffed and flew inside after Wendy and Erza. Happy looked dejected, "don't worry little buddy, she'll come around someday" I said, trying to cheer him up. "Yeah I must not give up!" he replied with determination.

"NATSU!" I heard two guys voices in the distance. I looked towards the noise and saw Sting and Gray glaring at me with a calm Rogue behind them. Oh I forgot to mention, before I left Lucy's apartment, I had time to paint their faces with some black ink. I painted around Gray's eyes to look like he had two black eyes. He had 'Natsu is awesome!' written on one of his cheeks and 'IDIOT 1' written on his forehead. On Sting, I wrote 'IDIOT 2' on his forehead, painted a moustache underneath his nose and painted a monocle around his eye.

Sting and Gray stomped up to me and grabbed my collar. I wanted to push them a little further so I kept my cool. "Have you done something with your hair?" I asked, playing dumb. They growled and raise their fists in unison ready to punch me in the face but stopped when Lucy came out running. "Daddy! Daddy! Don't I look pretty?!" she said happily. Sting and Gray reluctantly let go of me and I turned to look at Lucy outfit. She was wearing a bright pink floral tank top tucked into a black skirt with some brown boots. I thought she looked adorable in her new outfit. I kneeled down to her level "you look very pretty Lucy" I replied with a big smile.

"Yay Daddy thinks I'm pretty!" Lucy said happily, bouncing up and down before giving me a big hug. As I wrapped my arms around her waist, I picked her up and spun her around once. After the spin, Lucy giggled as she looked at Gray and Sting. "Big Brother and Big Brother Sting looks funny" she giggled. "I'm gonna kill him" I heard them mumble quietly under their breath which only Rogue and I heard. 'I better keep my guard up for any sneak attacks' I thought.

"Great everyone's here" Erza said as she walked out of the guild with Wendy and Carla. Once they saw Gray's and Sting's face, Erza chuckled, Wendy was trying to hide her laugh and Carla was trying to hide a smile. Gray and Sting were looking humiliated. Erza cleared her throat, "are we ready to go?" she asked the group. "No!" Gray and Sting exclaimed and ran towards the guild's bathroom to wash off the ink. I couldn't hold my laughter anymore and burst out laughing. Everyone joined in and by the time we were finished, Gray and Sting came back to the group. "Now we're ready" they said like I never put ink on their faces.

Later that day after taking that horror of a train ride, we walked to the client's place which was almost as big as the Heartfilia Estate. We knew this guy must be rich to afford this much land. Once we were at the mansion, a butler showed us in and took us to the client's office. The client was a brown haired middle aged man with a few streaks of grey in his hair. "Thank you for coming Fairy Tail. My name is Mr Kawakami" he greeted as we filed into the room.

We quickly introduced ourselves and went down to business. "The rare magical gem I want you to find is called Kamasu. It can help restore magic energy and heal almost anything by casting a spell on it. I have already found the spell from an ancient book that my people found in a tomb. All I need now is the Kamasu and I can donate it to one of the major medical clinics I own" he explained. "It is very commendable for you to want to find a magical gem to help other people in need" Erza said. "Thank you. The only information I can tell you about the whereabouts of the Kamasu is that the ancient book said it could be found in the forest West from here.

After that, we set off to find this magical gem called Kamasu. The forest Mr Kawakami mentioned was like a swamp. The water we had to tread though was up above my knee making it difficult to walk through at a fast pace. With Lucy in my arms, I made sure the filthy water didn't touch her feet. Erza would kill me if I made Lucy's outfit dirty.

"Why are we searching for this gem in a big group? Shouldn't we split up to make the search quicker?" Sting complained. "That's not a bad idea" Erza replied. "We'll split up into three teams. First team is Lucy, Wendy, Carla and one other person. Who wants to be in this group?" she asked as she took Lucy off of me and gave her to Wendy to hold. Sting, Gray and I all put our hands up. I was angry they wanted to be on the same team as my Lucy! She's only mine! I glare at both of them and they glared right back at me.

"I know a way to solve this" Rogue spoke up, "what do you propose?" Erza asked. "I think we should ask Lucy who should be the last person on the team" Rogue suggested. "Good idea" Erza said, "Lucy, who do you want to come with you?" she asked. Lucy looked at the three of us for a second and then shouted "Daddy!" with her arms out towards me. Sting and Gray looked disappointed while I was happy. "That's settled then. Team one is Lucy, Wendy, Carla, Natsu and Happy. Team two will be me and Gray and Team three is Sting and Rogue" Erza stated.
