Daddy's Little Lucy

Chapter 4 - Kazuma and Ryuki

"Fire Dragon Roar!" I chanted but Kazuma side-jumped out of the way and my flames burnt a tree. I knew long-ranged attacks weren't going to work on this guy so I changed my tactic. I got as close as I could and kicked him in the gut. The force pushed him into a tree but he quickly stood back up. Before he could land another attack, I ran up and punched his face.

My worry for Lucy had turned into rage. We needed to defeat them quickly so Gray can cool Lucy down. I didn't like the thought of Lucy suffering because of a stunt these twins pulled. "We have enough data Ryuki" Kazuma said which confused me and allowed him to gain some distance. "Aw but I was having so much fun" Ryuki pouted but went to stand beside his brother.

Gray and I were about to leap at them when their bodies dissolved into sand and drifted into the wind. I knew they didn't die, just teleportation type magic. "What did he mean they had enough data?" I asked Gray. "They might've not been after Lucy this time and wanted to find out about our magic" Gray said in thought.

I looked over to check on Lucy, she was the same as before. Gray and I walked over to her and Happy. I picked her up and held her in my arms. I noticed Lucy's eyes open partly, "D-Daddy. Too hot. Too hot" she said weakly as she cuddled closer to my chest. She fell back asleep in my arms.

The sun was setting so we went back into the house. "Give Lucy to me" Gray said, I was hesitant but I gave her to him. He laid on the couch and placed Lucy on her stomach on his cold chest. As usual he had lost his shirt during the fight with the twins. I sat on the floor, jealously watching the two. 'I'm Lucy's Daddy so I should be doing that with her' I thought. Still I felt happy that at least she was feeling better.

"What happened while we were gone?" I asked. "It was just before you and Happy came back. I was holding Lucy in my arms trying to ease her fever when I heard a knock on the door. I knew it couldn't be you because you would've barged in and I knew our friends would've called out their name. So, I went through your back door with Lucy and the twins ambushed us. I laid Lucy against a tree as I confronted them and that's when you showed up" he explained.

"Did you get the gift for Lucy?" he asked. "This!" Happy said as he showed Gray the dragon plush that we bought. "You were supposed to get something for Lucy" Gray said in disbelief. "Who wouldn't love dragons!" I argued. First Happy and now Gray, I'm sure Lucy will love it.

We went to bed as soon as we finished our dinner which was grilled fish Happy and I cooked. Gray stayed on the couch with Lucy while I slept on my hammock with Happy on my stomach.

The next morning, I woke up to Lucy crying "Daddy!" and nearly fell out of my hammock. I saw Gray was trying to sooth Lucy but she kept crying. "Daddy!" Happy flew off my stomach as I leapt out of my hammock. Gray quickly gave Lucy to me and she calmed down, sniffling. "Her fever's gone down" Gray said, I noticed her cheeks weren't flushed red and she wasn't sweating.

A thought popped into my head, "what did you do to Lucy?!" I shouted at Gray. "I didn't do anything! She just started crying all by herself" Gray argued. "Daddy wasn't there" Lucy mumbled, sniffling. "What was that Lucy?" I asked, not understanding what she meant. "I woke up and Daddy wasn't there" she said a bit louder as she cuddled into my chest.

I guessed she couldn't see me in the hammock and started crying. "It's ok Lucy, I won't ever leave you" I cooed and she looked up at me. "Promise?" she asked, "promise" I replied with my signature grin. She gave me a smile back, happy about our promise.

"Now that we're all up, lets go to the guild" Gray suggested. "Aye! I want to see my beautiful Carla" Happy said with stars in his eyes. We left my house with Lucy in my arms. Her eyes wondered around the busy streets of Magnolia. I heard a few whispers of the citizens wondering if Lucy was my child but I just ignored them.

Soon we arrived at Fairy Tail, "we're here Lucy" I said as we opened the doors. The guild was as lively as people drunk and talked. I took Lucy to the bar with Happy and Gray following. "Oh Lucy! I'm happy your fever went down. What do you want for breakfast?" Mira said as I sat Lucy on the stool. "Waffles!" Lucy said happily, "alright, what about you three?" Mira asked sweetly.

"A big juicy fish please Mira!" Happy said happily, "no thanks Mira, Natsu and I have to talk to Gramps first. Do you mind watching Lucy for a bit?" Gray said. "Of course I don't mind, Master should be in his office" Mira replied. We thanked Mira and walked up to Gramps' office. Gray knocked on the door twice and we heard Gramps say "come in." We opened the door and found Gramps sitting at his desk.

"What is it that you need to talk to me? Don't tell me you destroyed something again" Gramps said. "No, the twins showed up" Gray said and we explained everything that happened with the twins yesterday. "I see so they use Earth Magic" Gramps said in thought. "I suggest you two keep your guard up and have Erza stay with you as well" he suggested. "If Erza's staying with us then Lucy's apartment would be the best place to stay and it's closer to the guild in case anything happens" Gray said. "That would be best. Now if you have nothing else you need to discuss with me, I need to get back to work" Gramps said.

We filed out of his office and we knew he just wanted to get back to his Sorcerer Weekly stash. As we reached the bar, Lucy ran up to us and... hugged Gray's leg! I thought I was her favourite. "Thank you, Big Brother!" she said as she smiled up at him. "What?!" I exclaimed when she called Gray 'Big Brother' as Gray kneeled down.

"Why are you thanking me Lucy?" he asked. "Aunty Mira told me you helped cool my fever" she said. Gray gave her a smile and rubbed her head. "Anytime" he said and I swear I heard Juvia sob "why doesn't he ever do that with me."
